Heater unit problem

My truck (1999) does not put out heat! Eveything else works, A/C, all air diverters and blower work fine. Just replaced the heater contol assembly today and found out that the cable to open the panel for the blend air does not move the assembly. The cable moves a little so I don't think that is the problem. But the panel is jamed somehow. That cable moves a lot of things on the bottom side of the unit. Any help would be appreciated.

 

for heat :
On the firewall there is a square valve it has a cable on it check to see if that cable is moving or not. Remove the cable from the valve and turn it the other way see if you get heat then. If you do get heat then your cable is bad or a bend that is to sharp.

Sounds like you have a few cables are bent or wore out.

 

I have taken the cable off of the valve on the engine side of the firewall and moved it to hot. No difference. The cable that pulls that valve and the cable that moves the blend air panels move at the same time. Since the panels are somehow jammed none of the cables move. Might have to look up the diagram for the heat unit and see if it can be taken apart. Anyone know where I might be able to find them? Checked on the site for the repair manual and it shows only how to remove it. Guess I will keep seaching the net.

 

You got me thinking some more and I double checked the cable. It moves a little bit. So I removed it and found that it was bent slightly at the mount. Bent around on it and got it to work! Thanks for putting the idea in my head. Don't think I would have double checked without your post.
