It would be a hell of a lot less expensive........You would save enough to pay for fuel for life. I have seen what they charge for Tacomas up there...... Ouch.
You wish you could pay US prices for a Tacoma..

I've gotten a tank of 20 mpg's but that was when I drove on an open freeway for miles. In SoCal, its hard not to get stuck in traffic or forced to drive congested streets. 20 MPGs consistently in socal on a 4.0 is hard, but its definitely possible with calm driving and no speedy starts. I was driving 80-85, and i still got 20 mpgs. I believe 65 is the prime for the tacoma, so stick to 65 on the freeway, and you'll get good mileage

Edit: disregard comment, had no this had 36 pages of bs after the initial question lol.

This made me laugh. I joined this site in February, and have about 750 posts. And when I think about it, I spend way too much time posting on here.

You joined a month before me and have over 1300 posts...At the pace you're going you might 27000 posts pretty soon too.

Guess OZ isn't the only one with no life. And what's worse, spending a lot of time on a forum because you're bored or 'think what you have to say is important',
    or
spending a lot of time posting on an internet forum about the merits of the Rugged Trail 4x2, paying cash for your truck and all of the other things for which you come here seeking validation?

Don't assume to know my financial situation... Paying cash when you can negotiate 0% financing, who's the dumb one? Why blow all your cash when you can use Toyota's for free? And once again, no in here is whining about 2 MPG, it was a thread created to see what everyone was getting with the V6 motor. And also, we get it, you don't care about your fuel economy, good for you, you da man...

One last thing, it's hookers and blow not cigarettes and dope, get it right noob

Based on what you said I think I have a clear image of your situation....If as you say, that is "ALL your cash"...... I agree keep it in reserve. however if that is indeed all the cash you have, going into debt for $30K even at at the gimmicky zero interest is pretty dumb. Ya think? I know you bought the high "monthly payments."

Spending 20% or less of one's available cash on a truck is not a bad thing. NOTHING beats holding the title of your cars and the Deed to your home. Not even a gimmicky fine print zero interest come on and paying yourself back with interest.

Again, don't assume you know my financial situation... I own my Tacoma outright and have for almost 3 years. This thread isn't about who owns their vehicles or financial intuition, there are other threads already set up for that kind of discussion. This one is about who is getting good mileage out of the 4.0L engine therefore my other points still stand.

Get real... There is a huge difference between 8 posts avg a day and 30..... Ya think? I would have to increase my post count to 4X for a year to catch up the rate of posting!! LOL

Check my post dates Sparky and you will see I don't post everyday. Most of my posts were in the first few months Like yours when I thought this was a valuable source for information and it is when you weed though all the teenage garbage posts like " How can I get 2MPG more per gallon? My job at Mc Donalds is barely covering my payment and my parents are wanting me to get a life" A couple hundred of them sparring with the likes of those who live on this forum all day long seeking a life.

Oh And the Rugged Trail is the best version of the Tacoma made. No phony hood scoop, no "Limited" style painted Tupperware that doesn't really match the paint in gloss or texture. It looks like a truck not some LTD version of the 4 Runner or Rav 4.

I bought it because it caught my eye as it was the only OR TRD with unpainted Mirrors and grills and fender flares. It's kind of rare and thus not a "me too" truck. There are few like it. So you can take the whole Rugged Trail thing and try something else. I love it......sorry Im am not insulted....

So you are speaking out your ass... You owned your truck for three years so you did the "dumb" thing and paid cash of very close to it....You didn't take a 0% loan.... when in 2006 those 0 gimmicky loans were a dime a dozen....

    OK back on track.......
So do you worry about your fuel mileage?

No, not talking out of my ass . When I bought my truck, I took a very short term loan with a low interest rate and paid it off in under a year. My point was, even if you have the cash on hand, if you can get 0% financing, why put out your money when you can use theirs?

I don't lose sleep over my fuel economy but, like I said earlier, if I can very slightly alter my driving habits and go from 16 MPG to 20 MPG, I don't understand why you wouldn't. You're right, the fuel savings isn't going to free up a lot of money but every little but helps. I don't see the point in needlessly throwing money away simply because I can't take it easy on the skinny pedal.
