    The 2.7 filter goes in bottoms up so no problem putting oil in first. I always do. I have always heard the most wear is on start up before oil pressure builds up. The oil pressure light might only be on a second or two less but it makes me feel better and it doesn't cost anything.

    You get the same effect on the 4.0, I thought the OP was very good and better if it included that step as a safety measure.

    How did you get the oil out of the pan, suck it out the dipstick tube?

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Push and hold the ODO reset button in, then insert, and turn the key to the "ON" position, but not the "Start" position. Hold it until the ODO flashes "000000" and the current milage appeares.

    You are resetting the 5000 mile maintenance reminder not the ecu

    went to buy a tg3614 and they've been recalled. had to buy
    another type that replaces that one, can't recall which one but
    it is shorter than the oem but so was the 3614, fits perfectly just
    not a tall-boy :)

    I did tap a hole in the top of the old one which created a vaccuum so
    there was no need to use the plug/bottle/or hose setup, waited 5 min
    and spun it off..fawk the factory had it on CRAZY tight!! but when I
    got it off, not a drop of oil dripped out anywhere. used mobile 1 full
    synthetic.
