Drunk Under age Driver = Multi-car Wreck

Just heard about this.... Happened yesterday night...It's only about a few blocks away from me...

ANAHEIM - A 17-year-old boy who police suspect was under the influence of alcohol and weaved in and out of traffic on Lincoln Avenue is believed to have started a five-vehicle collision that sent five people to hospitals, Anaheim police Sgt. Tim Schmidt said.
Two people are in critical condition and three others suffered moderate to major injuries, he added.
About 7:45 p.m., police said, a Buena Park teen traveled at high speed, heading west in the 2800 block of Lincoln Avenue, near Beach Boulevard, Schmidt said.
As he weaved in and out of traffic lanes, police said, the teen sideswiped two vehicles, which included a van with a mother and her 10 children, before rear-ending a black SUV, Schmidt said.
The force of the crash sent the SUV into the raised median, through shrubbery, trees and flowers and into oncoming traffic before it collided with a silver Toyota driven by a nurse who had just left work, Schmidt said.
The driver of the SUV and Toyota are in critical injury after the crash, he added. The teen ended up spinning 360 degrees into a parked vehicle before coming to rest, Schmidt said.
A 17-year-old passenger in the teen's car was injured. The mother and the children in the van were not injured, Schmidt said.
"They are lucky they were not injured at all," he said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they gave the teen a sobriety test, during which Schmidt said he displayed symptoms of intoxication and was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence with injury.
The teen driver was uninjured, Schmidt added.

people like that will eventually do it again and next time kill someone.

and why is it the ones that are drunk never get hurt? they should be the ones to get both legs severed off, so they cant ever drive again

Oh man, this one really looks bad. They need to try him as an adult, followed by a lengthy sentence and a lifetime ban on getting a licence. Idiot isn't even old enough to drink and he's out there swerving in and out of traffic with a buzz on. Lucky no one was killed.

He'll die too quickly.

Drag him behind a truck with a motorcycle helmet and his hands tied behind his back at 20km/h. Do this for a good 30-40 minutes.

Then while he's still bound, roll his ass down a salt mine hill. Followed off by a rinse in wound cleansing isopropyl alcohol from a fire hose.

Repeat till he's 70 years of age, then cut his ass lose in a honey badger pit.

That kid a made a huge mistake and injured multiple innocent people. I agree he should be tried as an adult, but your lynch mob mentallity is a little disturbing.

 

Who me? I'm sorry, been having a hankering to watch Hell Raiser recently. Probably rubbing off on my posts.

 

I've been in that position. Underage drunk driver.....hell, I didn't even have a driver's liscense when it happened. Yeah, it's stupid and dangerous and I hope the kid is prosecuted to the fullest and learns something. But, to say he should be executed or tortured.....it's a bit much. I didn't hurt anyone(fortunately) when I did the same thing years ago. I lost my liscense for 5 years, paid thousands in fines, spent time in jail, and I came out a better person. I am a professional driver now. I have a CDL and haven't recieved a moving violation since the night of that DUI over 10 years ago. Come and tell my kids that I should have been tortured or shot after I made a mistake.

Sorry for the rant.

I've worked as a medic in Calgary. Essentially the Huston Texas of Canada. I've seen my fair share of DUIs.

You. You're one of the few who learns. Most of them are on their third of forth infraction, and they don't seem to recognize that it's either going to end with them going to jail for the rest of their life, or they're dead.

One guy I picked up actually said, "Shit, not again, my girlfriends gonna kill me."

Far as I'm concerned DUI's rank up there with rape. One shot and you're done with.

I'm honestly, truly happy you learned from your mistake, and you probably go out of your way to make sure others don't have to learn from your example.

 

I'm from western Pennsylvania. DUI's make up at least 1/2 of the police reports in the local paper and yes I agree that many will be repeat offenders. I don't condone that type of behavior.......just the circumstances were all too familiar.

 

Understandable, probably feels like a witch burning and we're eying you hey? I've driven impaired twice due to sleep deprivation, and that shit just sneaks up on you. Little different than actually making a conscious decision to drink, but still just as lethal.

I just don't get why people can't learn. Put your hand in fire it burns. Drink and drive and you will eventually crash.

Take his license for life and try him as an adult for DUI. We don't need people like that on the road or in the bar. He should have a tough time getting served alcohol without a license once he does turn 21.

 

All he would need is a photo ID. The problem with taking away a liscense is, it's only a card. I drove most of the five years mine was suspended.

 

Yeah but , you do not need a license to drive . Only way to keep from behind the wheel is behind bars ( not the ones you drink at)
