I want this lift... but not without your input!!! "Toytec"

Hey ya'll!

I'm literally about to buy this lift from Toytec... I would really like a 2-3" lift and even though it will spend most of its life on the street.. I refuse to have a truck that is completely incapable of performing its regular duties!

So I am avoiding going with spacers... etc. and going with this lift. I'm looking for comments/replies from those with experience from the brand or better yet this particular set up.

Addtionally, I am interested in input as to whether or not I should go this direction and purchase them now... a whole month before I plan to purchase my wheel/tire set up. and just rocking stockies... haha. or waiting it out...

Any comments are very much appreciated!!

 

It's completely up to you as far as buying before the wheels/tires; I ran with stockies for a few weeks before my tires came in too


And that's a great lift. Basically exactly the same as what I'm running and I've never had any problems. *knock on wood.
Handles on road great, even better off!

 

I'm planning on the same setup and was going to ask the same question... I'm already running on 265/70/17 Toyo open county a/t with spacers... Can't wait

 

mrjhnguyen what kind of spacers are you running?

those the stock trd 17" wheels?

 

I will be going with the same set up and adding LT UCA's when I buy my 2011/2012 TRD OFF ROAD not sure yet. I am going to run the stock tires and wheels for a while untill I can fork out some more cash for some bigger tires. I may put on some 1.25 wheel spacers to give it a little wider stance.

 

You will have maxed up travel if you set at 2.5-3inches of lift. Your rubber grease boots will take a toll sooner or later. Purchase a set of used coilovers. There was a set of FOX RR 2.0 coilover in the for sale forum i saw, don't know if they are still there. Not to mention you can sell your old shocks. Add a leaf is ok for like 1.5 of rear lift, and the 5100 are good for that height but not any higher. If you go up to 3inches in the rear you'll need 5125 as they are longer shocks. Spend the little bit of extra money on the front suspension and you'll be even more pleased, not to mention you can adjust your front height with a spanner wrench.

 

spidertrax 1.25 and yeah stock 17s... when i bought the truck thos were what it came with so i was pretty happy... with the spacers it pokes out about an inch

I have this kit on my '10. Couple things i noticed. 1) Make sure you get the 1/4 spacer sold separately to correct the taco lean 2) I set it at 0 and the cv angles looked good. I wouldn't go any higher. It was about 1.75 lift on my truck. 3) The rear lift was more than advertised. I was no tsb and went with the 2 aal; option. At first it was 3 of lift, but now a year later is settled down to maybe 2.5. Keep in mind this was on a fresh truck, no heavy loads/towing, and I still have only 2,300 miles after a year now. Doing it over, I might consider the 1.5 aal. 4) I put in the carrier bearing spacer after-the-fact. If i were you I'd put it on. The spacer seemed to help my take-off shudder, but the biggest help were the new duratracs. 5) Didn't see any problem with the shocks being too short. Don't know what that's all about? Seems to flex and compress fine to me. 6) Expect to have to have it realigned a couple times. My shops first shot at it wasn't acceptable, but they got it right the second time. Overall, I would do it again. Truck rides and looks better than stock. I look for crap pavement and bumps to hit on purpose. Never had a vehicle that felt so composed/solid on frost heaves and potholes. Good luck.

The kit comes with the diff drop... so this should help with the cv angles correct? did yours not come with the drop.

Also the kit comes with the 1/4 inch spacer to eliminate drivers lean

I'm going to be running duratracs too! haha. what size you go? i wanna do the 265/75 but don't want em to look to small

spidertrax are spendy... $200 for all four corners... do you know of any less expensive but comprable in quality?

 

Yes, it comes with the diff drop, but i didn't put it on. Heard mixed results on it's effectivenss and looking at it and driving it i said - nah. Ur right, I remember the spacer came with the kit, forgot about that. My shop forgot to put it on at first, so be explicit. Also, print off the directions off toytecs website if you have a shop do it. All told it cost me $450 i think. I am running 265/70/17. Up from my OR rims which are set aside for now. They won't look too small, they are what it should've come out of the factory imo.

 

Yeah... I'm definately installing them myself. I figure if I have the mechanical ability to rebuild an entire accord engine and build my own sliders for the Taco I should be alright with a fairly simple suspension lift... hopefully! haha

Maybe I should take my savings from self intsal and go with the $850 kit... still trying to figure out the explicit differences. and whether or not it'd be worth it
