I have an Aimpoint H-1 in a Daniel Defense mount that will go on this when it's ready. Just need to get this buttoned up with the irons first.

Honestly it is an A2 so I would keep it as it is and put my pennies together for another rifle. That is a nice Colt, no need to bastardize it with JJ raygun type things. You mess with too much you may cause more problems than it is worth.

Yes - I have a Geissele trigger in one of mine and I love it. Light, quick reset and reliable.

I believe that most shooters would be better served by spending an equal amount of money on ammo, and time on the range learning to run the gun the way it comes.

This is an increasingly unpopular opinion in the age of "I can't do X with Y so I better buy Z to fix it".

I agree. If you're new to ARs, learn and master the Colt you have - give it the "this is my rifle..." treatment and learn its in's & out's. Once you've done that, piece together your own rifle with the furnature and accessories you want - it's much better to build the rifle to your liking from the ground up than to buy and change everything after the fact.

I can attest to this. I started off the bat with optics and a scope and thought I was simply an adequate marksmen. I decided to take the BUIS path and go back to the basics with my current rifle and now think I'm a much much better marksman because of it.

Shooting is no different than learning any other sport (or anything for that matter) - master the basics and build from there.

I think what you have is great for that. Bear in mind that changing the stock to a collapsible one can be a bit more than you're probably thinking in terms of labor involved. You actually have to remove the stock body, then the receiver extension ("buffer tube") etc. and replace all of that.

See if you can find a Cavarms stock body or an A1 stock body as they will be shorter than what you have now and probably easier for you to handle. The A2 stock body is an abortion and an impediment to good learning and modern techniques.

Geissele SSA factory installed. Its like breaking candy canes when you pull the trigger.

Oh and to add about the adding of objects to your rifle. I shot iron sights competitively from the time I was 9 years old till my senior year in high school. Joined the Marine Corps and NEVER qualified less than expert, only one year was I not the company high shooter, and only came in second place to a friend I knew who shot in the same competitive circles I did in high school. When we ran into each other in the company it was like "awe shit". 500 Yards, Iron Sights, dropped one out of probably a couple hundred shots taken in practice and in qualifying. NEVER missed at the 300 yard line rapid fire and slow fire. After the Corps I never got into shooting competitively, but continued to hone my skill with iron sights. Twelve years after getting out of the Marines I picked up my first real optic, a 4X ACOG. Only now do I feel good enough that I have mastered Irons on an AR. People need to take baby steps when they get into these rifles. A credit card never made anybody a more effective killer.

I like your response mr sleepy lol... But I'm not looking to be a more effective killer I would like to be more of an accurate shooter before I get into anything like that lol... That's why I ask before I whip the card out haha... And I hope when I ask these questions people dont look at the just trying to be cool part... And actually wanting to get better... I deff dont have the expierence like u guys... That's why I ask a shit ton of questions lol
