lift question for new Taco

Hey everyone,

met some of you when I joined here over the summer, been puttin together ideas for when I finish Paramedic school on what to do first when I have my Taco fresh in the driveway. Aside from putting my sound system back together and hiding my slapper fire lights inside of it, I want to lift it. But I'm stuck between figuring out if I want a 3" or 6". Some buddies of mine who have lifted their vehicles, said the 6 may be too much as I might have to start extending parts, such as the drive shaft and what not. Any advice or opinions? I think the 6 would be badass but if I have to stay with the 3, that'll be fine. Just want to figure things out so I can research and see how much money I'll have to save up total. depends how much you want to spend. You can do a 6" lift and do a couple of bracket drops and a cb drop. Those are the only concerns that might bring up issues.

 

would you suggest the dealership doing so? one of my friends whom I haven't had the chance to ask personally about it, does all his personal stuff, has a turbo diesel Ram 6 inch lift, did himself. should I just cover my ass and have the dealer do it?

 

I think the most important consideration is what are you intending to do off road. The 6 inch might be overkill. But i do think it is pretty bad ass like you said. Im planning on getting a 3 inch OME lift, and i think it will be perfect for what my truck does here in NY. I know theirs alot of threads on both lifts, so good luck choosing

 

naw, do it yourself as you can cover your own ass, these trucks are solid man and almost nothing ever occurs that you can't deal with yourself and not to mention the money you will save doing it yourself.....

 

thanks for the input. all of my friends are more keen than I am with the mechanics of a vehicle. I went to school for autobody repair, not automotive lol, I can make it look pretty, but making it run is out of my league!

 

i have a degree in science and business and this truck is the first car that ive decided to do everything myself and it was a nice reason to invest in some new mechanic tools. Buy a decent spring compressor if your lift needs it, jacks and blocks of wood if you dont have a floor jack and your golden. This site has great write ups that helped me.
