Does anyone have them?

does any one have a 1st gen with a 3" life on 285/75/16( or 255/85/16) with on a 4.25" backspaced rim? i just really need to see what this setup looks like?(i.e if the tires stick out or not) thanks!

 

285s are about an inch wider than stock 265 tires.

so the edge will stick out about .75" wider than your stock tires (assuming you are running 265s on stock 4.5" BS wheels.)

 

umm haha ya im acutally running 31x10.5x15 right now(before lift) and no idea what the backspace is but they or stock rims but im selling that whole setup and i ordered the lift and i could only order a 16" rim with 4.25" backspacing and i really want my tires to stick out of the fender walls

 

Do you have the plastic flares or no?

If you do, I dont think they're going to stick out. If you dont, theres a chance.


FYI the further the wheels stick out, the shorter the lifespan of your wheel bearings.

 

ya acutally as of now i dont have any fender flares because my taco is an SR5. but really the wheel bearing thing i dont really care about i just want it to look good. but my only choices is either a 255/85/16 (33.3x10.4x16) or a 285/75/16 (33.1x11.2x16). currently i have 31x10.5x15 on it and i have about 1.5" from hitting the frame when it is fully turned. so i think with a 16x8 with 4.25 backspacing i can fit the 285/75/16 after the lift with little trimming and i dont think the tire will hit the frame because the rim will push the tire out more than now

 

what about rubbing fenders? I stuff my 265/75 r16s and rub the shit out of the fenders... how big is ur lift gonna be?

 

well i have the toytec 3" front spacers with procomp shocks and 1.5" rear blocks sitting in my bed waiting to be put on this weekend. but really 265/75/16? isnt that kind of a small tire for a lifted taco. because right now im running 31x10.5x15 with no lift...

 

it is its just a little taller than 31" but yeah thats why im asking i stuff my tires.... and they rub. i just bought new ones and couldnt imagine going bigger

 

I am running 265's and rub when flexxing and turning at full lock but plan to goto 285s soon as many people have and only had to do some trimming...but IMO, not to burst your bubble or anything but you shoulda done some research on here before you got your lift and got some billies or something instead of the spacers and blocks unless you just plan to crawl around the mall parking lot! just my .02

 

ive spent plenty time on this site.... and im sorry that i dont have a career at the age of 16 and im also sorry that i couldnt spend 1200+ on my lift. but im sure as hell that at the age of 16 you had no where near the money to buy a 99 sr5 let alone lift it, put on after market exhaust, cold air intake, brand new km2's with brand new rims. take yourself down a few notches

 

i did. I bought my truck at 17. Then my supra at 18. Im now 19, check sig for what i have done to both.

You coulda saved if you REALLY wanted to. Its not that hard. Wouldve been better to spend the 800-1000 bucks you'll have to spend on bigger tires for a better suspension setup.

Also the guy who told you this...is 19 as well

HA thanks man, and to the OP i wasnt meaning to sound like a douche i was just saying it out of personal experience that if you offroad then you will very quickly realize that it woulda been worth it in the long run to save a little extra coin and get a little better quality lift..i did it and i know alot of others on here that have and regreted the spacer. It was just my personal opinion to the situation..its no big deal your truck will still look a helluva lot better than a crap body lift!
