Yes, you are right. The XDs look a bit busy with all the metal in there, but I like the quality of the XD series. The moto metals have a really nice look to them but up close the ones I saw looked like it needed a bit more finishing, looked almost sloppy in production. :(

I've looked at the wheel threads on here and it was really hard to imagine certain wheels with the black fenders and the red...That is why I'm leaning toward the black. BUT I also don't want the black wheels, black tires and black fenders to all become a black blur. That is why I am looking for something with a bit of metal brightness to them.

I looked again at the XD series and came across the "armour"

Black wheel but not too busy with the polished metal. What do you think?

I think that would be a great idea, actually! Looks good what you did there! Wow!!! looked for something with red on them and came across one style but those looked busy too. I forgot the name of them. How would one go about color matching?

    Edit: Found them: Ballistic Jester

Find a local powdercoater. Usually about $70-$300 per wheel depending on how much detail and how many colors.

The wheels come nekkid and the red is put in separately. I think they have silver and blue as other choices. The thing that concerns me is how hard they will be to keep clean (stuff getting caught behind the accents), considering the red is held on by one little teeny bolt and the ends of them are prone to possibly getting bent out.

    Whoa.

Thank you. OMG. They DO look good.

I think I should try to find these wheels in person to really see the quality. They are only available online....

My buddy has these on his Tahoe. He took the red plastic pieces off and painted them white to match his rig. They actually look pretty good on his truck. Not my kind of wheel though but they would be cool if you like em...

Looks to me like they would be pretty well protected. What would get in there to bend them. Even if you where off-roading it would take quite a trick to get something up in there to do damage. Even so, if they were just inserts, they would probably be pretty easy to swap out.

I may have to consider these.

I would bet that I could have metal ones made up if the plastic ones were to break off to easily.;)

My apologies. I don't know why I thought they came in blue.

What do you think of the "armour" style in post 4607? Mostly nekkid, with a bit of silver.

Oh by the way, my truck currently has nerf bars on it. I didn't post that pic at first because I thought the first shot would be easier to work with considering it was a head on side shot.

But here's my truck with the nerf bars. So maybe the silver won't look too bad?

Dang I really like the red Ballistics though.
