I wouldn't be shocked if that tundra did better than a DC taco as far as gas mileage was concerned. It makes MUCH more power and I don't see how it could weigh much more if anymore than a DC taco. . Makes almost as much power as a ford lightning, granted it wouldn't drive like one doing anything other than going in a straight line. Just ask yourself how bad you need those back seats. V8 or Double Cab? :notsure:

i say do it if you need the power for towing or if you have money to burn for gas, lol. it's a great truck with loads of power and it's a comfortable truck to drive. my dad has a double-cab and i think he avg. 15-16mpg i think.

If I were in the market for a full-size truck, I'd just get the Raptor in extended cab and be done with it. 6.2L V8, factory long-travel, $42000.

nice truck for sure but the only thing is that it is a single cab going from a double to a single is gonna be a shocker.

having a single cab deff sucks at times for obvious reasons, unless you have owned a single cab then you already know.

either way I'm sure you'll be happy with what you choose!

A buddy has one and I was planning on getting one until I realized the thing would hardly fit into my garage... His is a double-cab "Rock Warrior" model and I like quite a few aspects of it but after owning a Tacoma I pretty biased toward it over the Tundra. I average 20 MPG to his 18 mainly country road driving with some city thrown in. Parking wise, Tacoma beats it hands down. Comfort and amenities the Tundra flat out owns the Tacoma though IMO... I honestly don't think I could ever own a standard cab truck again though, it just seems to sacrifice too much .

The Tundra is so big I bet you could still cram a body behind the seat in a single cab.

You will ruin your trans if you tow in D, if I tow any kind of weight @ all I always put her in 4. If not the tranny is huntin like a rabbit dog. My brother in law is a tranny specialist he says 90% of the f*cked up trannys he sees are because of just that.

Your probably right about the mileage if you keep your foot out of it & stay on the interstate o/w no way. I had an 06 DBL cab 4x4 Tundra 4.7 & it was terrible in town the way I drive. Great truck just thirsty & hard to park in garages.
