Speaking of Savard... I still watch this fight repeatedly when I'm feeling down:

Savard is out for the season. His future is unknown. I guess it has something to do with getting paid if he retires vs if he stays on the IR.

yeah boston because they were local, then Montreal when my buddy played there

he sure did look good, if this team were still in ATL, management would keep him in the NHL this year, put him on the 3rd or 4th line, and stunt his development. hopefully the brass in the Peg will send him back to juniors for the season. He was very confident and looked NHL ready but thats just a snapshot, i hope they dont screw this one up

Savard's contract with BOS is insured, each team can insure a handful of its high dollar / long term deals. they pay quite a bit to do it but its for situations like this. if he does not officially retire and stays on IR, the insurance company will pick up the tab on his contract for the full amount / term remaining. and it wont count against the salary cap. so no he wont retire until he gets paid, and no he isnt f^$%^ing the bruins by doing that, he wont play again, it sucks, he cant even play golf, ride a bike, take a jog without a headache and dizziness.

when Kane knocked out Matt Cook, Savard (former Atl Thrashers) texted a friend who was playing on the Thrashers at the time, saying "thanks that kid for me"
Kane was a hero around the NHL that summer, Im pretty sure it was the last game of the season he fought Cook. even the guys on the Pens commented that he had it coming

i think that we will see more suspensions this year on "illegal" hits, hits to the head, boarding, even misconduct penalties in fights. 3 deaths this offseason (Booggard, Rypien, Belak) all linked to substance abuse and depression, which is being linked to concussions and head injuries.

The NHL really needs to crack down on these hits and fighting more than it has. If they crack down hopefully other leagues of all ages will follow. The problems starts when these players are young, they grow up playing hockey, and if their skills arent there, they make a name for themselves by delivering big hits or becoming an "enforcer" AKA fighter. they start fighting so young, they get their heads beat in for 20+ years and it takes a toll. Its not the punches they take in the NHL which is a man vs man fight, its the ones they take when its a 12 year old pre-pubescent kid fighting a 200lb 14 year old.

i dont think fighting can or should be banned because its a form of protecting teammates, but if they really crack down on the bad hits then fighting will be decreased. and most teams will end up rolling 4 lines that have skill, so it will weed the "enforcers" out of the game from an early age

Me thinks you need a new logo for this season. So do a few others that just post the logo. ;)
