AWD Rally Tacoma Idea

Howdy out there in Yota land!

I had an Idea whilst driving my reg cab 04 tacoma base package.
What if toyota made a rally?gymkhana styled AWD twin turbo 4 cyl. compact truck! Or could someone with a lot of money, time, ect. mod a base package 2wd tacoma like mine to the above stated idea. Most importantly it should be a street legal production type truck.

Another question for some gear heads out there that are more knowledgeable....
If i wanted to try my hand at basic vehicle design at a hobby level, what would be a good software program (eg. CAD or what have you?) to start with?

Get an awd sequoia/4runner drivetrain and swap it over to your tacoma.

 

as far as the rally idea though OP, anyone can do anything with the right amount of money

 

CAD is pricey but worth it if you really use it. I like autodesk inventor pro but there is also alibre and solidworks. Try and get a free trial and see what works for you.

 

Google sketch up is free and pretty easy to use if you don't use CAD software already. I would think swapping out the brains for an awd would be the hardest part assuming you can find a power train that will fit a Tacoma. Just my guess though. There is an old saying when building racing engines "how fast can you afford to go" basically with enough money anything can be done

You could TT the 4 banger. Hell i have seen a compound TT kit for my 7m supra motor. one could be made for the 4 banger too. Cost a SHIT ton of money tho..like MOUNDS lol

I have solidworks installed on my laptop (what we get from the school) I kinda hate it so far. I'm just learning it and it's soo damn picky and difficult to make it do what I want it to. I'm sure as I learn it I'll begin to love it but for now holy shit it sucks. Plus our laptops aren't quite beefy enough to run it... It takes about 10 minutes to start up when you click on it.

I determined the other day I have a matchbox version of this truck. I had been playing with it for years much earlier in like and had no idea it was a Taco. I got really excited when I found that out.

 

Thanks for all the ideas and discussion! the pikes peak taco is what gave me the idea. been playing dirt3 on the x-box lately and watching lots of videos of the local motors rally fighter.

that's kinda where the street legal rally idea came from. I'll check out the design programs for shure. I've got couple decades of ideas and sketches I'd like to attempt to do some renderings.

what about 90s suabru legacy or impreza powertrain and drive train? I know that's kinda blasphemy for a dedicated toyota owner to say. But i see 90s AWD legacy's go cheap around here. lack of power in the legacy. the outback has the same motor and i've read the little 4banger in the 90s and early 2000s legacy outbacks couldn't handle the drivetrain and weight of the car.
