Ill be posting some more info soon. Just being very busy at work, so I haven't been able to go talk to the guy and get more pics. Good news however is that if ya'll do not like the the ones this guy sells for whatever reason, there is another person selling Taco Gen 1 and Gen 2 snorkels at $150. So either way, seems like there will be a good distributor.

    Will update more later.

Another concern is not just the design but the material itself. Not all plastics are created equal and part of the reason for the expense of the safari snorkel is the plastic they use. A lesser plastic will not only be more prone to breaking but will sucumb to sun damage and the elements.

Yep, I was just about to post this. Boyd had a post on the last thread where one of these were attempted and pointed out the difference in the quality of plastic. Cheap plastic will start to fade and really look bad..

    http://www.dont-get-burnt.com/

But, the cheap plastic aside... not having a template would be scary, at least to me... since you are cutting a hole in the side of your truck (and along the A pillar), but as long as the fabricator was available to answer any questions that came up, that wouldn't be an issue.

EDIT: Not trying to shit on your group buy thread dude, just letting everyone know. :) Be careful calling them "Safari Snorkels".

    Hmmmm.

After reading what you all have posted, I have come to the decision of letting this go. I pretty much only wanted to get you all a killer deal, like I have gotten in other group buys. However, given that I do not know that much about Snorkels, it might not be a good idea in the end. I might not notice important details about the snorkel, mainly because I am not familiar with such a part.

It would be really bad if in the end ya'll got a product that you were not happy with. It would be both wrong on my part, mainly because of possible misinformation, and horrible on your part, because of money wasted.

Then again, perhaps the guy really does have a really good quality product, it looked that way on the ones I've seen mounted, but I really do not want to take that chance, as I'm not even going to make any money on this.

So, sorry for anyone who looked forward to this and thank you for the information about snorkels, that will help me now if I ever need to get one.

And now something to make this long post worth it...
