You have to remember this article is written by the Edmonton Journal. Calgary Herald and Edmonton Journal is known for bullshit reporting, giving anything but a factual recollection of events. And why would you - it doesn't sell. Facts are boring. What sells is fear mongering and getting the masses all stirred up and in a little hissy fit. Make a crazy link title for people's twitter feed and people will click it. Advertisements pay for the amounts of hits that page gets.

Profit motive has destroyed good journalism. But hey thats not the point here. I have always wondered why you cannot use lethal force to protect your family and property. Why is this not a no brainer? Guess that's the lefts influence on societies. Which has its place I'm sure. But this is a result of it.

Harpers tougher laws on criminals is a tough one (For you Americans Harper is Canada's Conservative Prime Minister we currently have). On one hand its easy to say lock them up and throw away the key. Where I'm concerned is a lot of normal people do get charged. Be realistic, how many times have you stupidly driven your vechile while over the legal limit. Thats a felony in canada. Or should I say indictable offence. Made a spud gun and shot it off. Puffed on a joint. Shoplifted as a kid. Got in a fight at the bar and been charged with assault. All these bullshit crimes will cost you an arm and a leg in legal fee's. Tougher penalties for this shit? I don't think it will make a difference. People will continue to do dumb shits. We're not robots. Even though big government wishes we were.

the right to keep and bear arms is a common law right which your country and mine follows from their British roots......it was enumerated in the BOR and is a restraint on the national govt from infringing on a natural right...

The Supreme Court said the decision of Nunn Vs State of GA was the perfect opinion of the right in the US legal system Keep means to own and Bear means to carry openly....

Right to bear arms is an OLD law, I bet if you compare gun related crimes per capita in the states vs in Canada you'll see that because we don't allow people to bear arms here in Canada that those crimes are much lower!!

Its time for the Americans to come out of the stone age and remove that out of date centuries old law that allows pussies to feel like big men!!
