Ok might be getting a 2010 SR5 4X4 but it already has a pro comp lift toyo MT'S, and 20's, would you prefer the TRD over that or is that pretty much better, Is the Lockers that good as everyone talks, I had a TRD 1st gen and It had a Locker, didnt really use it that much, Thanks Guys!!!:confused:

Is the lift on the truck A 3" or 6"? The TRD Off Road also has A-Trac, and nice seats.

I bet DavidK's A-Tracey Senses are tingling knowing A-Trac was used in a post.

OP , you said you never used the locker on your old truck .

    Do you offroad ?

What are your intentions for the truck and winter driving conditions ?

personally i would not buy a truck with a lift on it unless it was put on by dealership.

Get a 4x4 of some description then , lockers are no good in snow , so if you will never use it , save some money and get the SR5

It gives the truck more traction vs having a rear differential that's open.

The locker is for anytime one of the two back tires looses traction (spins or is in the air)... as the other tire on firm ground gets an equal share of torque (turning power) from the engine with a locker.

I don't use my locker very much on my 2010 because it has A-TRAC, but I did use it in the snow last winter and my truck did fine with no swinging out as mentioned above.

If you don't have A-TRAC, the locker will be a great aid in traction in uneven terrain (rutted or rocky roads) or in poor surfaces like mud or ice where one tire will spin with an open differential and no traction control.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
unless you do heavy offroading like rock crawling u dont need a locker for most applications, i have one in my Jeep and have maybe used it 3 times just to get out of a nasty rut or up a narly hill, thats it. Everything else was easy in 4lo with the rear diff open, i never got anywhere using the locker in the snow either, it would just dig deeper. This will be my first winter with my 2011 AC Tacoma SR5 4x4 but it should do just fine, only thing i worry about is the stock tires are likely gonna suck!
