Does anyone slackline?

I just started learning to slackline like 2 weeks ago, does anyone else slackline?

1 inch (usually) tubular webbing, usually the mil-spec stuff stretched tightly between 2 anchor points and then walk on it

can be between 2 trees which is common, a few feet high

its a lot of fun

in reality though, the slacklines can be put an any height, but mostly they are low. and there ar 2 inch lines as well, but they have come about more in the recent years and they are more of trick lines

ive never done it but that is badass dude! mad props to anyone that does that with or without the safety line or whatever they call it. I was watching universal adventure sports or whatever and there was a guy doing it without a safety line over like a canyon and.... that was crazy

 

we do it between a couple trees, the highest we ever go is like 5 ft, usually around 3 though

its a lot of fun, and surprisingly cheaper to set up than you would expect

Cool. It looks pretty challenging. I've got feet upon feet of 1" tubular webbing from SAR. I might have to try it out...

 

all my crossings have me in a swiss seat and carabiners

that looks fun though

 

ya need carabiners for a mechanical advantage to get it tight enough, check out Youtube videos of how to set them up, once you get used to the feeling of being on the line it is a lot easier, i am almost to a point where i can stand on it (not walk yet though)

 

thats why we use mine no more than 5 ft above the ground

since i am still learning, i use no more than 3 ft

no "Need" to cross things

well how mine is done is it has a loop tied in one end and in the other end
it is weaved through 4 carabiners for a mechanical advantage and it stops it from loosening
here is a diagram of how mine is set up except there are four carabiners except 2

other people do it different ways, the 2 inch trick lines have ratchets to tighten them though

 

i was working as an arborist/tree surgeon for a while. we just used a 2" heavy duty ratchet strap when we were waiting for wind to die down before climbing or felling

 

i think that is where the trick lines came from actually, the ratchets are basically the same

it started with a bunch of climbers getting bored and having their 1 inch tubular webbing decided to try something new (or at least thats what i was told)

anyways, how did the ratchet strap work?

if right side up the weight of the handle will twist the strap
