Subwoofer? 2011 TRD Off-Road

Just bought a new 2011 TRD off road and it appears to have a sub behind the second row passenger seat. Anyone know about this?

 

You have the JBL audio package.

It is either a sub powered by a hamster or it is turned off somehow.

 

have you scrolled through your menu on the radio to turn it up?

 

It's a weak paper cone sub, don't expect to be hitting 100+ Decibels with these OEM subs lol. You should be able to press in the knob on the right and adjust it (not sure, not by my truck) Personally I keep mine at +1

 

whats with people bashing paper cones? reinforced pulp is probably stronger than lots of the cheapo plastic ones. but generally anything stock audio is crap

 

I think mine sounds pretty reasonable for a stock system. It can certainly vibrate the cabin on the right song.

 

I can adjust the "base, treble and mid" but there is not a subwoofer option to ve adjusted. I think I am missing something.

 

Bass is the sub and on the sub there should be a switch. Off - On - Light

 

Would it be possible to swap it out with a better one (Without replacing box/wires/amp ect) To get some better sound?

Oh by the way OP, its a 8 inch sub just in case you were wondering.

 

I think my stock '09 with the JBL sounds pretty good. I have wondered if there is a plug and play replacement for the sub too. Anyone?

 

idk if there a plug and play for a stock substitution, but... as long as you have the power and remote wires back there, you sould be able to up grade fairly easy to after market.

 

You might need a amp/head unit. I was looking into upgrading my sub and they said it wasn't really worth it without getting that because its still going to sound the same and maybe be a little more noticeable.
