Is there a way on a 2007 to make it when you lock the doors and unlock them audible. I know on my moms 06 4-Runner it beeps when you lock and unlock the doors.

Do you know what kind of alarm system or keyless entry system you have?

Unfortunately, they aren't all the same. I have the (Gulf States Toyota) VIP alarm system. My system required some funky moves with the lock button, key, and door. Now, when I lock my doors, it honks the horn once. When I unlock the doors it honks the horn twice.

I am not sure, I know I dont have a alarm. And it appears to be the stock keyless entry.

If you have the VIP alarms, I think this is what you are looking for. (I actually have a PDF of the instructions somewhere, but I don't know where...)

Well, I got it! For those of us with just the plain remote door lock/unlock, you can now add a "beep." I have tested this, now I just need to do it. (and take pic's)

    1) go to radio shack and pick up a piezo buzzer, I already had one so no part number handy, they have a few though and any will work

2)wire number 10, solid white wire coming off of your turn signal/ DRL relay (kind of on the side of your fuse panel inside the truck)

    3) connect the + side of the buzzer (they are polarity specific) to a constant +12, even with the key off

    4) connect the - side of your buzzer to wire 10

    5) sit back, feet up and play with your new "beep"

    Theory-
Wire 10 is a constant +12v going to the turn relay. When the unlock/lock circuit sends a signal to the turn relay, it grounds out that +12 volts. Since you already have a constant +12v on the proper side of your buzzer, when the other side gets grounded out, the buzzer "beeps" but only when locking or unlocking, not at inopportune moments, like say, when using your blinkers, like one thought was to do.

Now, like I said, I just have to do this. I will probably just put the buzzer in the lower left kick panel and see how loud it is. With my head under the dash, it was pretty d@mn loud, so it should be loud enough to hear when walking away. If not, I may move it to the engine compartment.

Way to go! I'll let you be the guinea pig. Let me know how well it works and then I'll think about doing it.

Like I said, it works (was right in my ear though). But, yeah, I will post up when it is finally in place.

so when you run the wire from the negative side of the buzzer to the white #10 wire, do you just tap the negative buzzer wire ONTO the white wire or cut the white wire and tie it to that?? and the buzzer wont go off when i use my turn signals right? and one more thing...do i have to remove the dash to get to the white wire?

    I am a post whore!

No, just splice into it, leave it connected so that it can flash your lights too. The only down side is that with your 4-ways going the buzzer is on solid too. I may put a switch inline with it in case I ever need to leave the 4-ways on for a while.

    Oh, the dash question, hhhhmmmmmmm.......

Like I said on the other forum, a grilfriend with small hands (su<ks to be you if so), your child or a magic wand.... No really, it is kind of accessible. You can actually pop the connector off of the relay easily enough. there is just not a whole lot of slack in the wires to pull them down to where it is real easy to work with. Does the visual "look like a monkey humping a frog" help?

but as long as the buzzer won't activate with the regular use of turn signals, we're all good right? would it be possible for me to wire up a switch in-line from the buzzer to the white wire, so that way i can turn the buzzer off if i need to use my hazards?

Yup, everything works just fine. I am going to wire in a switch and a fuse tomorrow (on the white wire or +12v, either, does not matter). it is only the 4-ways that it is constant on. I may look at wiring this another way too. Looking at the lock actuators themselves perhaps. Of course, the down side to that will be every time you lock/ unlock the doors, even from inside the truck, it will beep. Right now, I think this is best and easiest to do. Next step may be to somehow wire the locking side to the DRL's. This way when the DRL's come on, they will activate the locks. You could then manually unlock when you shut the vehicle off.
