People in greater Vancouver area watch out- I just saw a Tacoma ghost car pull a guy over in Surrey today! It is a black 2nd gen quad cab. It just felt wrong to see such a great truck ruining a guy's day!!

I wanted to take pics, but it happened right at a highway merge- no time to stop. Police regularly hang out at this freeway on-ramp to catch people as they accelerate to match highway speed. I know that the speed limit on the on-ramp is 60K, but the traffic on the highway is doing 110K. Makes for a hell of a difficult merge if you are following the letter of the law. The way the merge is set up, you have a clear view of the highway before you go around the last bend on the on-ramp. Makes it possible to pick a gap and accelerate to hit it before you have rounded the last bend.

That sounds unsafe. Is the 60 km/h limit a yellow sign? Those are "recommended" speeds and don't have to be followed.

We have a speed way blue 2nd gen doublecab in my town in SC, USA. It has a cage thing right behind the front row seats like a regular cop car with plexi glass rather than expanded metal so you can't tell he has one untill you look back there and see the solid steel barrier on the bottom half. Flashers are intergrated with his fog's an corner lights fog's are blue and corners are blue and white. Same for the rear just in the back up lamp thing. He's caught me with my pants down a few times.

Yeah, It had red and blue flashers in the rear window by the slider and another set of red and blue facing forward behind the rear view mirror. Also, the headlights flash on and off when you are busted.

There is a white speed sign at the bottom of a hill about a quarter mile from the corner before the merge. The thing is that most people just carry extra speed from going down the hill rather than slow down and then speed up again. I agree that it is unsafe to merge at a speed slower than the traffic you are merging with. I don't think the police would give you a ticket if you were to start accelerating after you had finished rounding the bend- but who knows.

A truck like Socalman22's with police lights would be cool.

They must be pulling them over for other reasons. The whole point of merging is to come up to speed with the traffic you're merging with.
