    Im thinking no...cause you havent heard the answer your hoping to hear....im sure if you custom build a headache rack to your specifications ($$$) it would work...but out of the box headache rack with winch to pull in elk/dear probably not..

    Im sure with steel square tubing and mounting/ welding it can be done...i dont think you necessarily need a headache rack. you can mount steel bar with plate for the winch and mount it to the bed bolts in the front somehow

    The problem with having the winch on the rack is that you increase the leverage on the mounting bolts as you raise it higher .

    I would keep the winch low to the bed , bolt it into the bed rail bolts that hold the bed to the frame and add a roller to the back of the bed to keep your winch line from cutting your tailgate in half .

    You gotta outsmart the elk...

    Drag it under a large, healthy tree. Hang a snatch block from an adequately thick branch, near the trunk, and hoist the elk into the air. Back the truck under the elk and lower it in.

    Hell, you could probably build a portable steel frame that would work as well.
