Ok so my new name should officially be "Stud Man". Not just cause I'm so damn sexy but because today I replaced 18 of the 24 studs on the Taco. Still have one wheel left but ran out of daylight and got tired of holding the flash light.

Still can't figure out why they put a steel brake line on the caliper. Accidentally crushed that and broke it while putting the caliper back on. Now I have a tube bending tool from Napa and a new driver side brake line.

Wheels look awesome! Will post some pics tomorrow after I get the fourth wheel finished up. By the way, it definitely helps to freeze the studs and grease the back side of them before installing them.

Just wanted your guys opinion as I mentioned earlier I the thread that I got stuck at Wharton and flooded the drivers side interior. After that happened my truck started to hesitate when starting first thing in the morning, it would click and a second or two later it would turn over. As the day went on and I started it more often it would start up right away. Today I went out there to start my truck and just a click but nothing. I just put a new battery in it last week so I figured its probably the starter. What's your guys opinion, I'm going to go out tomorrow morning and take the starter off and buy another one but I figured I'd get your opinions and see what you think it might be.

I was thinking about just buying one from Autozone, do you think their starters are good? I hope it is the starter and I'm not just putting one on and it's not even the problem. Anyone change their starter, I think I'm going to attack it from the drivers side wheel well any suggestions? Thanks in advance for and replies!

check the output on your alt. before you just start buying things......autozone or simular will do it for free if you dont know how or cant.......
most likey if your truck starts with a jumpstart then its not your starter.....
but as i said 2 weeks ago you could kiss that starter goodbye...thats my guess...
but i would hate to see you just buy parts and not be the problem......check it out first

That sounds like a good idea I'll try to jump it before I go out and buy the starter. From my experience with vehicles I'm thinking it's the starter though.

    PSU Taco85,

I would like to take it to Autozone or somewhere to get it tested but not being able to get it started makes it hard. I appreciate the offer to come down and give me a hand but I have to work today at 3pm so I am just going too see what I can get done before then. If I didn't have to work I'd say hell yeah as I would love to meet/hangout with some of you guys (no homo).

My starter died after flooding my truck. Sometimes it would start. Sometimes it would click. Sometimes nothing. I changed starter (autozone) and all fine

Well I took the starter off this morning without to much trouble about 1 1/2hours, I must say it was a bitch to get out through the wheel well. I tried dropping it out the bottom with no luck and then I tried out through the top off the engine bay but that wasn't happening. I finally got it out with a little force through the wheel well. Taking off the manifold would make it so much easier but I wasn't about to try and start snapping those rusted ass bolts!

Unfortunately when I went down to Autozone they didn't have it in stock but could get it to me by tomorrow morning so I said ok. The good thing is that it only cost me about $120 and it comes with a lifetime warranty so if I decide to take my truck for a swim again I can replace it for free :D. I thought it was a good deal even if the starter not the greatest the lifetime warranty will make up for it. Not to mention the second around it will be much easier now knowing how to do it.

Wonder if you might want to take the time to do a step by step write up for a DYI or sticky - make yourself a hero and save others the time you wasted experimenting:D

It's probably too late to do a step by step DYI as I already have the starter pulled out, I don't known if the way I did it was the easiest way as I did trial and error. It probably would have been a good idea though as I searched Tacoma World for one with no luck. I never think to do a DYI until after I'm done the project. In actuality to get the starter out its just two 14mm bolts that secure it to the transmission bell housing and then what I believe to be a power wire that's connected with a 10mm nut and a quick release clip that's it. It's just alittle bit of a pain to get out cause it's in a pretty tight area and then to pull the starter out takes some finesse. Tomorrow should be fun trying to get it back in.
