Front bed rail rivnut replacement?

I had previously removed the torx bolts on my side bed rails to put some D-rings behind the rails, and most of the bolts were completely dry and squeaked the whole way out. I greased them up, put them back in, and ordered some stainless steel hardware to replace them all eventually. I also started trying to remove the bolts for the front rail to grease them as well, and not only did all of them eventually just break, but 3 out of the 5 Rivnuts in the bed spun loose without a whole lot of resistance.

I should be able to get them out without too much of a headache with the dremel, but have any of you guys had this problem? I'm curious what would be best to replace them.... find some 6mm rivnuts, and this time put a little bit of epoxy on them before installing them, or just put some washers and nuts on the back side, and deal with trying to hold them awkwardly with a wrench in the small gap behind? Maybe there's another option I'm not even thinking of?

 

You should never have to take the rail off again... just put regular nuts and lock washers on them.

 

Yeah I doubt I will. I'm looking to get a bed cover eventually. I know most of them just mount behind the side rails, but I'm not sure if any have anything that needs to go behind the front rail. That's the only reason I can think of that I might need to pull it off again.

 

I've had my truck for almost 4 years and have never taken the front rail off and only had the sides off to mount my tonneau cover.
