    I have an 05 SR5 4X4 with a 6 speed manual. There is nothing on it stating it has an LSD or not. I do not have the owners manual either (long story).

    My question is this: When I'm in 4 hi and I'm turning a tight corner (like a switch back) I notice that my outside rear tire seems to drag noticeably. I can feel it when I'm driving the truck, and I can also hear it if I have my window down. Is this an LSD, or is there something wrong with my truck.
    I have had a Tacoma before with locking rear diffs, and it reminds me of that truck with the diff locked. I know I could probably ask the dudes at the dealership for a vin check, I will probably go and do that sometime this week if I don't get any definitive answers from here.

    Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also if this is the wrong forum for this question be gentle, I'm a bleeder... :D

    Is that on pavement or slippery surfaces?

    If pavement, :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

    If slippery, we'll see...

    It's on gravel or unimproved roads, not pavement.

    Is your truck a TRD Sport? If so then you have a limited slip. If not, then you likely don't. Crawl under and look at the back of the differential. If there is a small tag directly above the differential fill plug that says "LSD Oil Only"....then you have a limited slip.

    ^ I have an SR5 and LSD. I'm special.
    I suggest going to the back of your truck and looking at the rear Diff cover. There will be a white sticker with Red letters
    DSC02126_577856cdba6890849156704461367ef8eaef3d82.jpg
    If there is no sticker then it is not likely an LSD rear in which case neither Limited or open diff should act as you are describing. I'd visit the dealer or another reputable shop.

    To supplement my previous post; if your differential doesn't look like this:

    [IMG]

    Then you are LSD-less.

    Cool thanks guys... I think I'm LSDless... I am wondering why the tire drags though.

    No this isn't my first 4wd, but it is the first time I've seriously done a lot of 4wheeling. I lived in NC before, and never did much with my last truck. Now I'm in CO and I'm in the mountains almost every weekend. I don't do much serious stuff, but it has given me the opportunity to learn a lot about the truck.

    I checked out the link and it was very informative! thanks a lot.
