Evolution can explain your examples about earth. Evolution cannot explain how life or how the universe started. It can't explain the laws of nature. Neither can religion. It's ok to say "I don't know". It's better than assuming that illiterate goat herders living thousands of years ago were more informed than modern day scientists.

We live on this planet because it's capable of supporting life. There's a reason your god didn't create life on the moon, sun or Haley's Comet, they can't support life. Our bodies are 90% water because water is the most abundant thing on earth, it's ultimately where we came from. We can explain why oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen exist and in the quantities they exist in. When we overpopulate the earth and strip it's resources we will cease to be able to survive on it, and god will be unable to help. 99% of species that have ever lived are extinct and humans one day will most likely join them. The universe is the most inhospitable place for humans or life to survive, it's arrogant and misinformed to think it was created simply for us. If god created the earth for us why did he make 71% of it inhabitable to humans?

Why is it so hard to believe the universe HAD to have a creator but that the creator didn't have to be created? Who created god? Who created whatever created god? Who knows, maybe something did create our universe. But it definitely wasn't an insecure vengeful god with petty human traits like jealousy and rage. And we have no evidence of whatever it was.

And prophecies? Seriously? The example you gave is a great example of self fulfilled prophecy and a vague one at that. How about all the prophecies that never materialized? Oh yeah, they will at some point, right? Just like the rapture. And guess what, there are prophecies from other religions that have happened. Explain that.

When you can make a statement with respect and common courtesy I'll have a conversation with you. Until then, you are exactly the kind of person I'm referring to in my previous posts.

It's not presented as fact. It's the theory that has the most evidence to support it. The second another theory comes out with more evidence then the "big bang" theory will be overshadowed and eventually dropped. That's the beauty of science. If someone comes along and offers proof that evolution is false then evolution will be dropped. Science isn't anti-religion. It's pro-fact. It doesn't matter what or who the facts support. If we could find any evidence whatsoever that god or jesus actually exists or existed then science would be much more religion friendly. Don't hate the scientists, hate the lack of evidence.

OK. I'll bite. How does evolution explain the examples about earth? How is it that RNA and DNA are both necessary for replication of even the most simple cell, yet scientists cannot satisfactorily explain how they could have come into existence simultaneously? (I.E. which came first, the chicken or the egg?)

The argument that life is here on earth simply because it can support life is circular reasoning. That is like saying it is cold outside because the temperature is low. I agree that as it stands now, man does not manage the wonderful gift we have of this earth. This is not what the Bible tells us was God's purpose for the earth (but that is an entirely different subject).

It is true that many of the Bible's writers were simple men. Peter, James and John were fishermen. However, Luke was a physician, David was a king and Paul studied at the feet of one of the most respected lawyers of his day - hardly goat herders. But, really, if there is a God (which I believe there is and I understand that you and many others do not) how hard would it be for him to inspire/direct that certain information be related to humans here on earth? And if he chose to do so, would it matter whether they were goat herders or PHD's?

As to why 2/3 of the earth's surface is water, obviously it is integral as to how the earth functions. The oceans provide food, clouds that are formed by the evaporation of sea water which in turn fall on the land areas which in turn benefits plants and animals. I.E. the person that designed the earth knew what was needed.

God is not insecure nor is he vengeful in the way that humans are. True, there are Bible examples where he passed judgment on nations and even individuals. However, when you look at why he did this it is understandable. For instance, the nation of Israel supplanted the peoples that were dwelling in the promised land. Part of the reason this happened is because of the practices of the people that lived there. These people were burning their children alive as a sacrifice to false gods. Ask yourself, didn't the US and Britain fight a war over similar behavior in Nazi Germany?

What is vague about the example cited? Do you want chapter and verse as well as secular sources? Self fulfilling? Did Israel call up Babylon and say, well, it's time for us to be conquered so come and get us? And when the 70 years were up did they then call Medo-Persia and say "hey come and get us - and make sure that Cyrus is the man you send and also be sure that you tell him to divert the waters."

What unfulfilled prophecies are you referring to? True, there are some that have not been fulfilled yet (i.e. Armageddon, the great tribulation...) Please be specific. FYI, I do not believe in the rapture. And as far as prophecies from other religions, I do not profess to be an expert. It would be interesting however if you could cite specific examples of what you are referring to.

A LAW is a human created term to describe many things, that doesn't prove a law making creator must exist. There is no natural law book handed down by a god, man derived them.

It is not difficult to believe that a creator designed things, it's actually easy or religion wouldn't exist. It is difficult for scientist to understand everything that has happened in the 13.7 billion years we currently estimate to be the age of the universe.

Your examples simple are giving up on science and saying "because I can't fathom how we are here there must be a creator".

That is not evidence for the existence of a creator. Science is working to understand what is possible from available evidence.

Prophecies are recorded by man and interpreted over time by man. Most are discarded and forgotten, hardly scientific proof, and hardly verifiable from available evidence. Believe it or not leaders could have manipulated history for political gain. Our modern politicians aren't the first to alter the truth for gain. Of course I have no proof but you have no real proof that these prophecies are accurate.

Prophecies from nearly 3000 years ago, interpreted by fallible humans are not evidence to the existence of a creator.

    No evidence so far.

Evidence that a jesus existed doesn't provide evidence that he was the son of a god either.

Agnostic: i also believe in life force and spiritual senses, but im not a buddhist. never really called myself anything, but i have beliefs. i am glad i was raised by my parents whom also have no religion, so i have the freedom to make my own choice on what to believe. most of the religions seem illogical to me because they differ, but all claim they are correct.....so who is right? they cant all be. has anyone read "The 12th Planet?" im not a firm believer in the theory in that book, but it does make alot of sense and is much more logical than anything else out there. and it explains why humans are so different from other animals, and "global warming." i know if i type too much you probably wont read this so.....

i feel the exact same way, and we dont need religion to teach morals. im very moraly strong without ANY religious influence. neither of my parents had religion either.

no shit, right? look at our current conflict in the middle east. we (USA) are there trying to end a thousand year war. that aint happening! all they know is how to fight each other. u cant change people that easily....

That would assume that NO scientists have an agenda. I'll agree that most don't but of course there are those that do.

Yea there are those who seek to gain personal benefits on both sides...you see it on the news every day when a religious leader goes foul. Scientists have probably done the same.
