So now the question is black badges or keep them chrome. The passenger side one is plasti-dipped for the time being till I can decide if I want to do them all or keep them chrome.

"Just make sure it's not actually in 4WD" I've head or read U R supposed to run it in 4WD for 10 mins a month to exercise it. I never do but wondering - is that BS ?

 

I dont do that... But when i started drivin i felt a front end vibe that almost felt like it was in 4wd... Then it stopped.. Maybe its just in my head.. But i parked her at the park n ride and rode in with my buddy just to be on thw safe side

 

if you turn the wheel while going slowly, you'll be able to tell if its in 4wd or not.


I had gotten to the point where I was putting it in 4wd 5 times a day to keep everything working smoothly. It worked until the hurricane hit and I was so busy working that I forgot about doing that. Now it will engage and blink, but to disengage it I have to turn it to 2wd and then turn off the truck. when I start it back up it clicks back to 2wd.

So an above ^ post says don't 4WD on dry pavement and Toyota says run it 10 min per month in 4WD. So who's right and what 2 do Maybe run it in 4WD down the highway in a straight line. I notice a real strain when turning in 4WD in tight quarters like a parking lot.

Yeah thats why i was pretty sure it wasnt in 4wd when i took it for a test drive... then i felt that vibe, so i cut the wheel to full lock and drove in 2 circles in the park n ride parking lot, definately not in 4wd... but with that vibe i did not want to risk the 40 minute 70mph commute... and i felt the vibration alot more this morning when i picked it up.. and i heard it more too... idk i think im just gonna call the dealer.. it should be covered under warranty no matter what the problem is aina?

 

i do wheel my truck... not as hard as you guys though, but i have no armor anywhere in my defense....

Ok so i called the dealer closer to me(15 minutes) to have it looked at cause i dont want to drive it an hour to the one that i deal with regularly... goin in Wednesday mornin to check her out... now my question is... if something is wrong to the point where parts need to be replaced, are they going to try to Eff me over due to the lift and whatnot??? and should i remove any parts that they may say caused this? i.e. Diff drop, lift, anything? because if they say its due to the lift or anything aftermarket i will turn my truck back to stock the next day and bring it to my regular dealer...

 

X2 even the diff drop shouldn't matter.. I doubt they will even notice it's there, but it is easy to remove if you're paranoid.

They shouldn't refuse to work on it or charge you anything. It should all be under warranty.

The things that they mentioned to me were the snorkel and the rear diff breather extension. Made them say I'd submerged it. More than anything I would try to get it as clean under there as possible.

 

Jerry and I have been talking about his diff skid for a while now. Kevin is supposed to be coming out with one too.

Given the two available options, I'm choosing boztec even though it's more expensive. I like the design of it and the fact that's it's already proven, where jerrys hasn't been tested yet.

I'm sticking with Jlee's design... That way I won't feel so bad when I alter I to fit with a traction bar...

I was thinking the same... Easy fix though. I had to do it to the rear skid plate on my Polaris.

Plus, the guy is just starting out & I want to give him the business...
