I have been using Mobil 1 for many years on my other car, I love this oil. The first day I changed to mobil 1 in my other car, I was doing to many things at once and forgot to tighten the drain plug. I was going on vacation, 450 mile away. I'm not sure how close i was to my destination but I remeber hearing the drain plug fall out and hit the underside of the car. I didn't think much about it, no warning lights on the dash, so i made it to my destination. after unpacking, we wanted to get some dinner, well the light finially came on and I thought to look under the car, well there is was, all my oil I just put in. I don't know how many miles i drove without oil so I went to the local auto parts store, bought a new drain plug and 5 more qts of mobil one. The car started right up, Never any problems, I must have put an other 100,000 mile before I traded her in for my Taco and she was running perfect. Never burnt oil between changes. I'm sold on Mobil 1, hands down, the greatest oil out there Now I just purchased my Taco 2 months ago and just changed the oil to Mobil 1. I usually change the oil at ab out 7,500-10,000. Nice write up onthe oil filters, next change, I'm getting the Toyota filter.

Yes, I am quite clear on the concept of changing fluids at prescribed intervals.

I was on a Reno Unlimited Air Racing crew campaigning a highly modified Hawker Sea Fury (Race 10 Critical Mass) with a Wright 3350 18-cylinder radial rated at 4,000 HP for 20 years. I changed the cuno filters (oil screens) after every race, and inspected every one of the 30 or so stacked screens and what we rinsed off to see if we had too many shiny parts of the wrong size or color.

But unique, highly modified aircraft being pushed beyond their design limits have no "manual." Overkill on maintenance is how you prevent being killed on the course. Mil spec aviation maint. has strict, standard procedures that can't be modifed, no? So when it comes to a measly little stock pickup truck, I don't see any value in altering the standard spec provided by the factory. :notsure:

By the way, I look foward to you posting pic of your truck and odometer when it reaches 999,999 miles. I am sure Toyota would like to use it for publicity, too. :homer:

Dude, if you put them upstream of the flux capacitor, it will give you and additional 5k megajouls on the business end of the oscillation overthruster.

Mobil one 5w-30 high mileage synthetic and oem filter. I change it every 5-5.5k miles. I was always getting the oil at advance but I found d it for way cheaper at walmart. I might spring for trd filter.

Hmmm, I think what you really need there is a hot air intake to compensate for the defenestration effect. I think those come standard on the sport models.

I bought a Tacoma with over 200,000 miles on a 2.7 engine. It hasn't used a drop of oil since I got it 4000 miles ago. The oil still looks pretty good. Today I found out that our locale Napa auto parts store sells amsoil signature series motor oil for $10.00 a quart. It says that you can go 15,000 to 25,000 or one year on an oil change with the Amsoil filter so tomorrow I'm switching to amsoil and next year I'll change it. If everything goes well anyway.

I read an article the other day (and didn't save the location) that said some engines will start leaking oil when changing to synthetic because the seals get the gunk cleaned off them from the higher detergent. The seals that have been protected from the oil by the gunk deposits have dried out a little and will leak a little and then re-seal as the oil gets to them and re-conditions them.

The article also said that not all synthetic were compatible with all seals when synthetics first came out. (I guess that would be in the 1970's???) Due to improvements in oil and changes in oil seal materials that is no longer supposed to be a problem.

I read where Consumer Report tested synthetic oil against dino oil in taxis. Taxis are not where the testing should of been done. Some go a million miles on an engine because they are never shut off. There is very little damage done to an engine after the first hour of service. All tolerances are at their tightest and everything is working as perfect as it is going to get. I am pretty disappointed in Consumer Report.

I think Toyota went from the 7500 mile recommendation to 5000 miles because of the oil sludge controversey some years back with the 3.0 1MZ-FE V6 engines that were used in the Camry, Avalon, and Lexus ES 300.

That said, I use Amsoil Signature Series Synthetic and change it every 7500 miles with genuine Toyota Oil Filter. I am hoping to push it to 10,000 mile intervals with a filter that is rated to go this distance.

Interesting. I was not aware of that issue. Seems a likely reason for the change. CYA.

I have been changing my RP oil @ between 8-10,000 the last two times and have had analyzed at a lab which I posted privously on my 2004 3.4 L.Was told that higher amounts of aluminum were present but not a problem yet.I have been changing around 7-8 thousand prior to the last 2 of right around 10,000 miles. But will decrease back down to 7-8. They have said that the oil I use begins to break down at around 5700 miles, typically.
I also use K&N oil filter, and this last one am trying Mobil1 out to see if any difference. There is a filter on the market that has magnets but nothing for Aluminum( Tru-filter).

Hey man I used to run the signature series Ow/30 im my car. The most IMPORTANT thing I can tell you is. DO NOT listen to amsoils claim about 15-30K mile oil changes. That oil is badass, but thats too many miles between oil changes. Carbon starts to build up on the bottom end bearings, & over time IT WILL FAIL!!!!! I have 1st hand knowledge. I did 3 15K mile oil changes & I spun #6 rod bearing in my 98SC400. Which is why its a 98SC430 now. I tell you another thing, I was alos using amsoils EA oil filter the whole time. Its funny that right after that happened to me, & I didnt call them about my motor, but right after Amsoil stopped making the EA filter for ALL TOYOTA products. Oh you can get the EA filter in any other make, but not Toyota. My lexus mechanic/friend said he used to work for a Acura dealership & 2 Amsoil reps had bought brand new TL's & both of them spun rod bearing within the 1st 6-8 months. All they would do is come in @ 15K have him change the filter & top it of with new oil. DO NOT end up in the same boat I did.
I my self have considered trying Amsoil S.S. but want to research it before the switch,so keep us posted.
