So my wife finally thought it was time to take a test drive in my truck and of course I oblige, as she does technically own half my truck, and all of my balls...

But when she pulls into our carport, she kinda takes the turn tight, and as you guys have been following I did purchase a DC/LB, and for those of you really paying attention, I did just get it 2 days ago.. Here's a few pics..

Sorry for the crappy pics, it was on my iphone at night.. but you guys get the idea, we've all had a few of these in our lifetime..

I was very lucky that all she scraped up was the fender flare. My question is, how much does one fender flare cost (roughly) and I wonder if I could just buy a '11 flare and call it good?

 How'd you get it into the kitchen for her to drive it??? Just playin. But, that's Exactly the reason I don't let females drive my truck. Or very many guys either. Don't trust anyone else with my baby. Sorry to see that. I'd be sick as a dog.

That looks like the left rear. It looks like it's just scratched and most of the color came from the pole. Buffing will greatly minimize it but I'd probably opt for just having a body shop patch and paint it since they won't be selling painted ones direct from Toyota anyway. I'd think 100 bucks ought to dang near cover it.

OR you can cruise it with its new battle scars and wait for Bushwacker to make the pocket flares for the 2012. They are quite nice when you get to the suspension and bigger tires part of your future build. This will also be crazy good for giving the wife a little hell when you go somewhere and the inevitable griping about your driving begins :D

Enough said. Dude, I am so sorry. Don't have nightmares. It's gonna be ok. Like you said, it's only the fender flare. It's still the fact though. If you are going to let her drive... open parking lots and only during working hours when most people are working. :D Good luck buddy.

 And I thought I was the only victim ...

Good news is that it's on the plastic fender flare and it's really easy to paint perfectly. On a truck that new, I'd probably disassemble it and have the whole piece prepped and re-painted so you don't have issues several years down the road. It's just on there with some small bolts and plastic clips.

If you don't take it off, you can't prep the surface all the way to the edge of the rubber gasket so in the future, it's likely that's where the clear coat will start lifting (it will eventually, even if it takes a few years). If you remove and repaint the whole piece, the repair should have almost the same longevity as the OEM paint.

Sucks to have to do this on a brand new truck but it's your call. Some people can look past this stuff. I used to paint cars for a living so I see very little imperfection in a panel from across the street and it drives me nuts.

I think that Jeep actually uses adhesive to attach the chrome clad to their rims. That way, after a few years in the salt and snow when they look horrible and are corroding like crazy, they get to look even worse if you try prying them off.

We should be thankful Toyota was so lazy...chrome when you want it none when you don't.

I agree that most if it looks like it came from the pole. The clear fender protector is not even peeled up and it looks like the paint is just on the surface. Careful buffing will lead to excellent results.

Is it just the TRD Sports that have the 4 leaf pack, or do the late '11's and '12's TRD Off-Roads have 4 leaf springs as well?

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers guys.. it really means a lot to me at a time like this..:D

This morning, I'll be heading to a body shop in the area.. hopefully it'll be good to go and behind me so I can enjoy the new truck..

Thanks for the help guys! oh, and on a side note.. I think I may get sliders out of this ordeal!! I told her if we got sliders, it would've only hit that, and we'd be ok! I think we're gonna look at some sliders here soon! I guess this turned out to be a blessing in disguise.. an ugly one at that!
