My AC outlet in the bed is not working. I checked all the fuses and they are good. The switch will light up for 100w/400w, but I get nothing when I plug something in. I pulled apart the center console and tested the wiring harnesses with my voltmeter and found it wasn't getting power there. How do I get it to work again?

I will eventually get a better inverter, but can't swing it right now so I want this one to work.

    Check the fuse?

Sorry, I must have skipped right over that.

It could be the switch or the socket relay.

Wheres the socket? The wire harness thing that plugs into the inverter? Or are you talking about the outlet at the tailgate? I tested the outlet deff had no power. I also tested the wire harness thing going into the inverter and it had no power as well.

Is there a relay involved in the inverter?

That would be great if its the switch coz that shouldn't be that expensive. I will test it next chance I get.

My post was supposed to say "relay" not "really". Sorry for the confusion.

The relay sits in a compartment by itself on the outside of the main fuse box under the hood (driverside). The switch activates the coil of the relay which then sends the power to the inverter.

If you pull the relay and meter the 1 & 2 terminals in the box after you turn the switch on, you will know of the switch circuit is working if you show 12V or higher voltage.

The relay can be tested by supplying battery voltage to 1 & 2 posts on the relay. You can then check for continuity on posts 3 & 5 of the relay. You should see a very low resistance. Make sure the meter is set to the OHM setting.

To check the circuit from the relay back to the inverter, you will will need to jump the the 3 & 5 terminals in the relay socket ( ) Exercise extreme caution as there is 100A potential here.

This is the electrical schematic for the inverter system. This is for the 05/06 model, but your should be the same.

Or just switch another relay in its place and if it works thats your problem (if you don't have a meter)

Awesome info! Thanks a ton. Especially for the links. I have the color circuit diagrams, but I have been looking for the pages that tell you where everything is located in the vehicle.

I post how it turns out.

The relay works fine. The switch works. I must have somehow blown the inverter then.

I thought you weren't getting power to the inverter though?

Do you have a picture of this compartment by chance? also does this relate to the fuse or relay 2D on page 24? The reason I'm asking is cause I put in the inverter and all the wiring from a TRD Sport into my SR5 and I get the switch on the dash to light up but will not say lit.

    Perfect, Thanks!

I will look for that off the other wiring harness or in my truck.

I would love to have this mod working before Halloween so I can have a little fun :D
