Try a toilet plunger to get the big dent out. Or find one of those pop a dent guys in your town. The dent on the crease wont come out perfect but it will be better than now.

Quote seems right on the Money , I'm Positive there are shops out there that would do it for less but they will give bottom of the barrel work. You could try Painless dent repair a really talented guy can fix that easy. Paint work will still need to be done and that's why the shop wanted to do the door skin replacement. Get done right and let the Insurance handle it.

Get rid of that evil tree stand!!

My Lexus had a small ding in the crease (the same spot as the OP) and it killed me every time I saw it.

    Dent pro got it out.

A human can cause that damage from 3 ft away you must be thinking that thin sheet metal is stronger than it is.

Definately skin(If its a good shop) or used/new door... that is not repairable. expense is mainly labor and supplies... doesnt seem outrageously expensive...

    ^This.

A hit to the middle of the door caves the whole door in, all of the stress gets put on the body line because its the strongest part of the door and its trying to hold the damage back.. when body lines crease, it causes paint to come off MOST of the time...and i guarantee any one of you can go kick the center of your door(the center of OPs Damage) with all of your force(Definately nod as much as 2 men from 7 ft) and the exact same would happen. body lines are for strength, without that curve at the top the door would just bend right in half with a hit like this... i believe OP as i have been doin body work for 8 years and have seen some crazy things...

:) A human back does not cause a narrow crease. Point of impact is right on the line, hit in such a way to push the window molding up, and remove paint to bare metal. A human is wearing clothes, and has soft tissue. Not denying the fact that this is thin shit metal (I hit hard packed snow and dented my own door) but, from my perspective, this does not look like a human impact.

    On that note

have you never seen someone get slammed into a car door? that shit happens, ive seen it like twice. that could totally be the result of getting thrown at it IMO.

I have to agree with Detective Kodiak. Lets get the forensic dept down here and see if they can find any trace of tree bark. Check for tire tracks as well. He could of hit a deer and did a hit and run. Lets get a background check on the guy and see if he has murdered other tree's in the area. For all we know he could be a serial tree killer:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yah, Ive actually seen someone get thrown into a door. Think about it, Your body is flexible enough to channel gravity and force right into a weak spot like a door panel. Especially if the guy wasnt braced for the impact, Oh yah i could for sure see that being the result of a big human body laying 150-200 pounds over it with a pretty good force of gravity behind it.

OP's story is plausible, and I believe it to be true. looks like his brothers shoulder hit about level with the door handle, and when a panel gets pushed in a couple inches its going to crease somewhere.
