Press and hold the trip button when the ignition is on, while you hold it turn the ignition off then turn it back on. After that it should beep a couple times, then it will reset. I know this works for the maintenance light is on so it should be the same for the check engine light. If this doesn't work, then owners manual will tell you how

The only way to reset the CEL is with an OBDII reader or pulling the neg battery cable for a few seconds.

Yes. It goes by the name Check Engine Light (CEL) or Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). Are you sure you hooked everything back up?

If it doesn't go away after disconnecting the neg battery cable, you'll have to have it read (scanned with an obdII scanner). You should be able to hita local parts store like advanced or O'rielly's. They will normally do it for free. Make sure you write the code down and post it up.

I know with my first gen you could pull the ECM fuse to reset the check engine light.

May work for a second gen also...worth a try if it happens again.

Yes, that does the same thing. Good way to keep the radio presets too.
