This is what I am talking about so that I can control both cases without having to hack the truck even more.

I'm still running the FJ case, the crawlbox will have 4.7 gears and sit between the transfer case (TC) and transmission so it will move the TC back 8 1/2" will have to shorten the rear driveline and extend the front to make it all work.

OK, I thought you were wanting to run 2 crawl boxes Triple stick VS triple case. That set-up is slick and makes sense for what you want to do. So you are going to run a J-shift TC with a crawler I'm pretty sure they fit and have not seen a 2nd gen set up that way so that will be really cool to do.

The problem with running that set up ( triple Sticks ) on these new trucks is that with the stock crossmember, the t case is too high and the links will hit the bottom of the floor. You will have to cut a hole in your floor big eneough to accept those links running inside your truck or make a new crossmember that will drop your t case down enough to clear the floor. It's a very cool design and I like it but you'll have to do a ton of fabbing on the floor board to make it work properly in these new trucks.

That's good to know. I haven't actually looked through what it would take to make the setup work. As of now, it's just a thought. The more I wheel, the more I see the need for a lower low gear. When I wheeled an automatic, it wasn't an issue, but with the manual, it needs lower gears for obstacles. I guess when it comes time for that mod, I will have to look deeper into it.

To the OP, how are you going to mount the shifters? Do you have buckets and you are just going tie up the space between the buckets?

Thanks Wyatt, I saw the set-up he linked in 4WDTO and looked at some write-ups on Pirate or Mud can't remember which one and saw where they talked about clearance issues.

On mounting the shifters I will have to see when the Tacobox gets here, I am hoping to just reverse (cut, weld and rebend) the current twin sticks since they will be moving back 8.5" and keep them near the current spot hopefully a little further back then where they are in center console. For the shifter on the Tacobox itself hopefully it will be a little forward of where the current twins are now since I hope to move them back and keep everything within the current area I cut out in the center console.

So these would be more torwards the rear of the current location

I would shorten and reverse these so that they come up through a new hole 8.5" back of the current hole. The Tacobox shifter will come up through the original hole for the twin sticks.

Clear as mud I think I confused myself a little trying to put thought into words....

    Hey JW
My truck has been having 4wd problems again.. for the 4th time.. and I'm so sick of it.
This morning I was almost starting to think about putting it back to stock and getting rid of it, but then I read through your build and it got me back on track. Thanks man.

I was over on TTORA earlier and was reading about problems with the tcase actuator getting gummed up. You said it needs to be cleaned out every once in a while.
My question is.. after doing the fj tcase swap, you no longer have the tcase actuator, but you still have the front diff actuator right? That's what they call the ADD right? Does anyone have problems with that getting gummed up too? Just curious if there are still 4wd problems even after the manual t case.

Thanks again man. Always an inspiring build!

    Stay safe brother!

Josh.... To answer your question. Yes he does still have the front diff actuator and yes that's what everyone calls ADD (Automatic Disconnect Differential)

To the best of my knowledge no one is really having any troubles with the ADD, the problems everyone experiences (like yourself) is the motor on the t-case acting up.

In my opinion for the problems you've been having I would just go with a FJC t-case and call it a day.
