LONG OR SHORT.... ?

I have been back and forth, every time start to like one, there is something about the other that i notice that i like. So, for all the 2nd gen double cab owners out there, if you have a long or a short, list why you like it. Looks, use, and driving on or off road.

 

and is it me, or do the long beds look EVEN LONGER in pics, but one just driving down the road they really don't look that long?

DC long beds are too big in my opinion, I'd just get a full size at that point. I have an access cab long bed because I use my truck as a truck. It has motocross bikes in the bed every weekend. Get the LB if you're gonna be hauling.

Can be a pain to park/fit in the garage but mine does fit
Off-Road can be a bit of a challange in tight spots

Cannot be had with the off-road package, Sport only

 

I think the DC long beds look the best. I needed the DC for my dog and my son's car seat. For some, the short bed is sufficient space, but for me it is not - I needed the long bed. Between firewood, 4-wheelers and a lot of other stuff, the 6' bed is what I needed.

I am not a hardcore off roader, so I don't think the longer wheel base will ever cause me any troubles.

 

I bought the long bed for looks and practicality. The dcsb looks like a lot of truck with a little bit of bed at the end. Kind of awkward to me. The dclb looks more balanced. I also wanted the longer bed to be able to better handle longer construction supplies with less hanging out the back.

 

Long bed for the win. It's a fact long beds are cooler. It's a fact that Short beds cause nut cancer. Short beds are ugly imo.I use a truck as a truck so the longer bed works for me. No need to go full-size truck(like someone stated) and really kill your mpg.if you plan to offroad and don't really haul crap than a short bed would work for you.Long beds look sick lifted

 

who ever said you might as well buy a full size? why on earth when i have damn near the size of a full with the mpg of a mid? best of both worlds.

I went with a short bed due to the fact that I don't haul anything all that large, most of the places I park downtown would be even tighter with a long bed, I couldn't get the TRD Off-Road package with a long bed, I do think the short beds look better, and it would have been an extra expense that I just didn't have a need for.

Like Oz said, if you are simply getting the truck for looks, just go with the short bed. The biggest pro for the long beds is more versatility when hauling stuff.

Long bed for me. I use my truck a lot for camping and scuba diving and I like to have plenty of room. It's not any harder to park than a 1 foot shorter truck would be.

 

Short looks better lifted or not. Short offroads better. Short fits in the garage easier. Utility trailer for those times when you need to haul more. Long looks silly IMO. I would just move to a tundra at that point.

 

Awesome truck. Still looks odd to me. It's too narrow for its length.

 

Both options are great choices, depending on your lifestyle. For me, I wanted something with greater versatility to carry more gear, haul more stuff + people, etc. But for some Offroading is more important, but for me if I wanted a good off-road rig, I'd just get a Reg Cab, nothing more.

Long bed = ability to haul more comfortably (closed tailgate), better proportions and the Sport has the looks (OR has more function, but chrome )

Short bed = Shorter wheelbase, a few hundred dollars cheaper, available in Sport, Offroad or SR5
