Purchased a new T/X TRD 4dr last week and for some reason the truck just looks to sit lower than other Tacoma 4x4? I just traded in 08 FJ that was leveled and sat much higher so I'm not sure if thats what it is or if in fact the new Tacoma's are sitting lower maybe due to gas milage?? I do have the running boards installed which I may take off so that maybe part of it?? Thoughts?? And yes I know a lift would solve that problem :) Getting the front leveled as I type.

Is the TX a 4x4? I thought it was a prerunner? I know my TX is a prerunner.

No reported changes in 2011's suspension compared to 2009-2010.

Measure the distance from the center of the hub to the top of the wheel arch. Compare the measurement against other Tacos that you think are higher.

It is a 4x4. Just noticed the dealer has a standrd trd sitting out back (employee truck) I'll measure that one as a reference.

So I'm new to the Tacoma club, I'm assuming the prerunner is a 2wd version?

    correct.

it should sit the same height as a regular 4x4 tacoma. Other tacomas you may look at could have the rear spring tsb (search for it), whihc will raise the rear another 1.75" roughly

The tires could be it. Maybe the ones I'm seeing have the 17" wheels??? Just had my leveling kit installed and what a difference. Now to order the rear airbags to offset the sag when I have the boat hooked up.

Employee trucks may be lifted. A Bilstein 5100 lift could be inconspicuous.

Yes they sit a little loxer than the Sports and SR5's  Because Toyota has issued a TSB on the leafs for the TRD packaged trucks. Yes the 2011's are included. The non trd models have the upgraded springs and i have NO idea why but it goes all the way back to 05 models. im leveling mine as well and getting the TSB replacement in 2 days! The TSB is because the 3 leaf packs are too weak and sag an ride like junk with a load. New ones are 4 leaf pack and should add an inch if not 2 to the back!:D

And fix the ride with a load as well.

So your saying the TRD models have a weaker spring set in the rear?

I bet a lot has to do with the tube steps also. I have the oem tube steps on right now but when I removed it my truck looks like it's lifted.

Tube steps are not going to make the truck heavier and change ride height. Besides, the steps are a part of the TX package, along with beadlock wheels and an exhaust tip and graphics. (TX Pro adds catback exhaust)

If you take your tubes off you can sell them on here in the Buy/Sell/Trade section.

Yes there is a forum on the rear spring TSB (technical service bulletin) and theres one where you can print the TSB off. Its been a problem since 05. ive even heard of people breaking them. Check to see if yours has the 3 leaf pack and if it does, carry it to your dealer and make a complaint that it rides like crap with a load on it (atv's, boat, etc.) and they should replace them. Mine are getting done tomorrow!! Its an upgraded 4 leaf pack so all in all its like adding an aal but just a full spring pack

The tube steps just make it look lower. Take them off and see how you like it. I also think stock height vehicles with rims that have a lot going on make the vehicle look lower but that's just me

Tube steps, sliders, etc. all give the optical illusion of being lower to the ground...and technically do cause a small loss in clearance, but in the case of sliders I'll deal with it.

Stock trucks from wheel hub to fender is about 20" front and 21" rear. Measurement from the ground can vary due to tire size.
