we managed to kill one, but it spent it's life being thrown in and out of a work truck, outside for days on end, and never being allowed to cool down. Even under those conditions it lasted a good 7 or 8 years.

I'll admit our newer Miller is way nicer though. Seems to start the arc way smoother and not pulse as bad as the lincoln did.

we talkin arc or mig here? the lincolns i was referring to were arc. . . we had a millermatic mig my senior year of high school and it was bad ass! when you used it it felt like you were cheating on the old lincoln in the corner lol.

oh yeah this was a MIG with flux core wire. And yeah the miller is almost like cheating. Especially if you compare it to arc welding which is much more difficult IMO.

The welder is a 210 Millermatic, with 3035 spool gun, it is about 3 yrs old and he wanted $900 for it, he said he rarely used it. He is supposed to sell it saturday but will let me know if it falls through.

you going for good looks or functionality? i would find a used one of these bad boys. it's a classic.http://www.google.com/products/cata...=X&ei=31uDTtDpJ4ehtwfnivnWAQ&ved=0CIcBEPMCMAA

its what i learned to weld on and almost prefer oddly. this sounds so redneck, but whenever we would weld in high school, only the girls used the mig welder lol. i enjoy the pride of laying a nice bead with an arc welder and then grabbing the hammer and chipping the flux off to see the fruits of my labor haha.

grab a box of 6013's and go to town. . . or atleast thats what me and my brother did when we built the bumpers on his jeep a few years ago.

im sure they do. and the thicker or thinner you want to weld, just change the amps and rods and you're unstoppable. this summer i had to weld up a bunch of display frames for work and used an arc welder for 2 9-hrs days almost nonstop. did the math later, i layed over 1100 beads in those 2 days haha. jeans were burnt to hell and my feet were scarred like crazy from sparks burning through my tennis shoes through my socks (who needs boots?!) , but it was the most fun i've ever had at work haha.

Hopefully the other sale will fall through. If not I might go for something a little smaller like a Miller 180 or might even try a ESAB machine of equal size. I've heard some good things about them.
