tires are mudstars 265/70/17



sticks out just enough i think.

also, when turns really sharp, i think they might be rubbing. i can hear something. the wheels are 17x8.5 4.25 bs -12 offset

thanks! should i be worried about rubbing when i turn it really sharp (like backing up or pulling out in 1st gear)

 

It just depends on how bad it is. After a little bit (won't take long), you should be able to see some marks/wear on the areas where it is rubbing.

You can also put some chalk on the most common areas (UCA, front valence, etc.) and then just go drive around your neighborhood and see where it rubs off the most.

Either way, I like that combo a lot - looks great!

thanks. i'll try that when i get a chance. i've only noticed it twice so far.

any advice on having mud-terrain tires? besides rotate every 5,000 miles?

Nothing special about them aside from being sure to rotate them.

The only thing that has ever bothered me about mud-terrains is that they are hard to find in lower load ranges (especially with 17's). The higher the load range, the stiffer the ride.

If you ever feel like you're getting bounced out of your seat, do the chalk test on them to be sure you (or the shop) don't have them aired up too high. I did this on my '07 with 17's and MTZ's and I had to drop it about 4psi before it passed the test. It's amazing what 4psi can do for ride quality, too.

You shouldn't be rubbing at all with your 3" lift and tire size you're running. If anything, it's more than likey your front mud flaps. Take those suckers off.

 

thanks. yeah i can hear them when i'm driving, but doesn't bother me too much.

so far the ride is pretty good. i'll keep that in mind though

If you're going to take any of them off, I would just take them all off. They will more than likely get ripped off sooner or later anyway.

Lots of guys run without them with no issues.

I have only the rear ones. No issues.

thanks guys! i guess they are coming off, at least the front ones. i did have 2006 prerunner and i had one get ripped off, so i know all about that.

How much did the rims cost ? i would mind getting those for my 2011 prerunner .

like they said above, check your mudflaps, inner fender well in the front (the black plastic) and i know i have larger wheel, 285/75 but mine rub on the lower control arm when turning all the way.

I got them at a local shop, $500 installed including tax.

Yeah I noticed it again today, I think it's the mud flaps.

Also, driving on a gravel road with these tires isn't a great idea. Rocks were flying down the road afterwards
