my buddy has an 86 F150 that always chokes down when he stops for a brief period of time. he doesnt know what the problem could be, he recently had the belts replaced but it still chokes down and shuts off. any of you mechanical guys think you might know the source of the problem??

yeah i told him it sounded like it was a fuel pump or something. its fuel injected. so hes not running too lean or too rich but i think its a fuel pump. cause uder throttle it goes fine but when hes at a stop it chokes down on him.

i agree with firefighter.............get him to replace the fuel filter first and see what happens, and if that dont work............he'll have a new fuel pump and filter, which will help with mileage too. and seafoam that baby too man!

my best guess.. its probably a Ford problem. Tell him to try and UnFord it and all the Ford should come out. but if it doesnt.. he probably has a Ford and tell him theres nothin much he can do..

Also, may want to have him check the throttle body and make sure there is no crap building up around the throttle butterfly.
