That's basically how I envisioned my game plan already. I told the sales manager to let me know when he has a truck for me and we'd make a deal. I'll go in tough asking for those numbers and play the dealers against eachother. Great thing is I have all the time in the world, so I can afford to be patient and really get them to fight it out. I'm really not looking to trade in until after the new year.

    Thanks for your insight

Then you are in a perfect situation - you should come out on top.

By then, Overstock.com will have 2012 pricing. I would go on there, build the truck you want and take that into your dealer.

I did that with my 2011 and I got it for $1,000 below invoice (ish).

no shit? overstock.com has new car pricing? I had no idea. Thanks for the tip again!

*edit* ok I see now. It's the same basic tool as USAA and several others. Cool, thanks

    Exactly!

I never messed with USAA but Overstock.com has saved me several thousand on my last few cars.

I wouldn't put a lot of hope into that trade in number. Dealers anticipate repair costs and work it into those trade in values. Don't be surprised to see a lower trade in value.

Firts, welcome to TW, and good luck getting anything done around the house or at work if you have a computer in the room, as TW will take over your life.. you are now officially forewarned, and now that we have formalities out of the way..

Awesome buy! I have a '12 DC/LB/4x4/TRD Sport "upgrade" too.. I'm having a few issues with the Entune as well. So far I haven't had to send it back to the dealership yet, but we'll see where it ultimately goes with that. You're not that far.. maybe we'll hang sometime..

Good luck with the truck/Entune fix and again, welcome and be prepared.. TW is gonna take over EVERYTHING!!

So the Toyota site for build you own only offers for the dbl cab long bed a SR5 and the sport upgrade option. The pics aren't fully updated yet cause it shows a black front end and it only shows white. I'm going for the sport, non-upgrade but that isn't showing yet on build your tacoma. I hope they get the whole update soon.

Working in Portland zipcodes as well - they must have JUST got it live because I tried a few hours ago and it was still half-broken.

BEAUTIFUL TRUCK! That is the color I will buy too. Go post it in the Pyrite Mica thread: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/16037-any-2009-pyrite-micas-out-there.html
I'm very interested in going the USAA route. I had planned on just mass-emailing all the dealerships within a 6 hour drive and letting them battle it out but I might call USAA and see what they can swing for me right out of the bat. Your post gives me hope that I can get in well under invoice :)

Feel lucky - I tried to sell my 9 year old SAAB a few years back for 4K and couldnt get any takers. Had a dealer at the time offer me $1800 for it. It's in perfect condition. It was originally purchased for well over 40k. I'm not saying you should take the low offer, but it could be worse ;)

1k below invoice? Damn! I need you to come with me when I buy my truck!

Ok the 2012 builder still isnt working correctly... for instance SR5 package and DRL are mutually exclusive for some reason. Also it wont let me choose any accessories at all.

Haha, yeah. You'll probably love it if you're at the 'meh' stage. I really disliked it, and now I love it :D

You also can not build a double cab 4 cylinder. It automatically make it a pre runner v6. I know bot the double cab 4 cylinder and double cab prerunner 4 cylinder both exist i have seen them on cars.com

Dropped by a dealer. they had a double cab long bed sport in the Nautical Blue. It looked pretty good, but it was in the back and hadnt been washed yet. It was about 7pm so the sun was setting. couldnt get a full effect. It actually had a slight purple hue, but again the sun was setting and it was dirty.

Has anyone found a TRD Sport that doesnt have the Sport Upgrade? every Sport I am seeing, its the upgrade and the website which isnt fully working only gives the SR5 and the Sport Upgrade on the TRD Dbl cab long bed.

Thanks. Yours will look just as good!

I was able to enter DRL and SR5 on my account for the 2012s. Maybe it's an issue with the zip code you entered, but give it another shot. Also, for the other guy using USAA- I was able to select a DCSB regular vs the Prerunner edition. My zip is for Meridian, MS.
