It's already better....than it was, at least. Thanks :D

Left. Broke both bones basically right where they attach to my wrist, splintered one of em. I don't know how big my plate is...I woke up and it was done and I left. I go back Oct 6, so I'll ask all the questions and look at the xrays then.

Titanium doesn't set off metal detectors I don't believe. I thought it had to be a magnetic form of metal to make those go off?

It does. Titanium alloys have cobalt and nickel in them which are also magnetic. There is also a tiny bit of iron. It also depends on the detector and the alloy present.

I will settle this debate when I go through customs in a few weeks. I just hope they don't smack me in the head and force me to try and cough something up:rolleyes::p

    OBVIOUSLY, that was joke, lol

Can't be magnetic. The whole point of using Titanium is that A) Bone actually fuses with it making it stronger after healing and B) They can run your ass through an MI. If there was any magnetic alloys present that'd make things go real bad, real fast.

Unless there's something you know that you're not telling me Benjamen.

Yes, there is always something I know that I will not tell you. I never said it was magnetic. I said it contains magnetic materials. And it also depends on the alloy. They ain't all the same you know.

The thing I didn't tell you: it's usually trace amounts.;)

I'm not sure either. The last few trips through a metal detector at a county office building it always went off, but I have steel shanks in my boots, the 3" titanium plate in my shoulder, and a pewter belt buckle so pick one. lol

I think it has more to do with size though as my stainless steel earrings and watch back never seem to set it off. Also, how fast you walk. I've walked slowly through them and set them off only to be told to go back and walk faster.

Cigarette packs will set them off though. The aluminum foil in them does it, and makes them look like a large block of metal apparently.

Who knew Benjamin stood for Douche Nugget.

All I know it Titanium = Implants.

MI+Magnetic Materials = Bad things happening.

Did you know that some allows of stainless are magnetic? Just because some Ti has iron in it, doesn't mean it's magnetic. :D

Talk to my old man. 40+ years welding; he knows metal.

    But that...that I didn't know.

    You mean alloys? :D

And yes, I know my SS multitool has been magnetized. Real handy when dealing with small screws.

I think piercing products are surgical stainless steel. Not sure if that makes a difference, but none of them have ever stuck to a magnet. They let me keep them in for the MRI I think. Hard to remember as I think I was on morphine by then. :D
