POLL: How Long did your brake pads last?

My front pads may need replacing at 35,000 miles... This seems soon to some here, but not far different than my other 2 Tacomas. Depends on the terrain, load you carry (if any), and driving/ braking habits, I am sure! Only vote if you have had the front pads replaced and knew the mileage. I haven't yet, so I can't vote...

1. Under 30,000 miles
2. 30-39,000 miles
3. 40-49,000 miles
4. 50-59,000 miles
5. 60-69,000 miles
6. 70-79,000 miles
7. 80-89,000 miles
8. 90,000 + miles

 

Anybody put new brake pads on their truck yet? LOL

 

traded an 06 in with 83k and never put pads on and was told at 66k that i had half left up front

 

I just hit 90k. I have not changed pads ever...

Note: You use your brakes a lot in PR... so these have lasted more than they should've.

I do need to change them now. They finally starting to give the sound that tells you to change them. Gonna put OEM pads. Im also gonna shave or replace the rotors and might replace brake lines. OEM lines will be likely, unless the Steel Braided ones from the Group Buy are about the same price.

 

the factory pads lasted till 85k. then napa pads lasted 25k. so i put some factory pads back on it. at 119k now

 

and the rear factory shoes are still holdin strong

 

But did you change or grind the rotors when you installed the napa pads?

that was also a time when i just got my 4x4 workin and did a lot of wheeling. im sure the mud didnt help but surely it wouldnt make that big of difference

 

My front brakes are shit plain and simple. The guy I bought the truck from changed the brakes twice after oem's wore out. The rotors are grooved and worn and the downhill braking stutters like a bitch even though the pads are fine. I have a feeling the mechanic cheaped out on the pads. So that is my next project.

 

im at 38,000 miles. but for next winter i know ill have to change them. just to be safe. just depends where you live.

 

I just passed 30k and the fronts still look good. Maybe 15-20k more. Most of my driving is highway right now. When they wear out I'll throw some EBC's on and see how they do. Love em on my bikes. Hope they do well on the truck. Course' if I get bored I might just change them for GP. Sometimes I just get an itch to turn a wrench.

I am at 67K and still have the original brakes. I also live in the state with the worst drivers in the county.

 

does ATRAC make them wear faster?
