I'd be happier if I could trade her in on a newer model every four or five years. ;)

I love my Taco! I've posted on this thread back when I first bought my truck, but now that I've had it for about 7 month's now figured I'd post for having enough time with it. The only complaints I can think of (small ones at that) are the lack of display on the hu and the 4x4 switch not being illuminated from the factory. But on the positive side after trading my beloved Hemi Ram, I love my gas milage, I love the size of this truck, I love knowing how much value it holds, I love knowing how long it should last me and I love how it drives and rides, unlike most smaller trucks. And this truck will get up and go if I want to. I haven't gotten on it that much but was impressed last weekend as I was passing an F350 that was going kinda slow and got a short passing lane that opened up. About the time I got beside him I realized I needed to press it a bit harder as I didn't have as much time as I thought. I got around him pretty easily. After having the Hemi I was afraid I would regret trading but I must say this V6 seems damn near as quick as my Ram was. My only regret is having a payment again.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

This is about my 4th Tacoma (and I have owned a lot of vehicles, especially Toyotas) and every time I drive this Tacoma, I like it even more.

Personally, I think that Toyota did a great job making these smaller trucks all the way from the old 22Rs to the Gen-1s and now on the Gen-2s. Yes, I have had some bugs and still need to get the TSB done on my rear springs, but Toyota has always taken care of my problems. That is why I am so brand loyal to Toyota. And my present Tacoma is the perfect size for my present needs too.

When Toyota does come out with the real Gen-3 upgrade, they will have a high bar to exceed the styling, performance & durability of their past models.

Just my 2 cents as a long time, loyal customer of Toyota.

PS ... I would love a small V-8 (4.7) in the present Tacoma's size (will never happen) .. or .. the FJ V-6 engine (might happen) with an OEM TRD S/C. That would be my next Tacoma, if they ever make it.

I've had my Taco since September 9, 2011(just put over 1000 km's on it) and I love pretty much everything about it. I haven't gotten to test the off road yet and I can't wait to do so. Friends that also have Double cabs(2010 and 2011) like me don't have any issues they say to when it comes to the off road of a Tacoma. I am going to be taking my first long road trip in a couple of weeks and I am excited. It's going to be way different than driving a 2.5 L 2 door hatchback.
The only little things that I didn't like about the Tacoma was the stereo, the interior is kind of bland. I wasn't able to get heated seats unless I got the leather. The things that I have mentioned can be changed. I already expected to be the gas milage the way that it was, it wasn't a surprise to me(either was the engine tick). You gotta pay to play right. Rather than that nothing was going to stop me from getting a Toyota. I enjoy every kilometre I put on the truck and once the break in is over the fun is going to begin.
I also would like to thank members of this site for being welcoming and helpful when it comes to me asking questions about my Toyota. I'm slowly getting use to having my first truck and the change over and the help from this site has made things a lot easier.

I think it is a great truck. A little better MPG wouldn't hurt but all in all it's great.

Appears to kick ass in the mpg area. I anticipate 27-28 mpg (got 24.5 before mods after purchase). I'll see next tank with the mods/ replacements that I did. Drives o.k. Hate the vibrations but the wheel balancing will hopefully fix that. Overall in one month use I give it an 8/10. I paid $7800 and with fees and upgrades I'm standing at approx $9500. Seems kind of pricey for what it is but if I get another 100k (currently 134k) before needing engine work or major transmission work then all will be well.

I recently purchased a 2011 Tacoma SR5. I use it for a route I drive to Atlanta 5 days a week. Traded a 1998 SR5 w/ 487k miles; good service so I bought another. Now I learn Toyota wants me to change oil every 5k miles w\synthetic oil! I need low operating costs----do I really need to pay $6 to $9 a quart for synthetic oil? My previous Tacoma ran fine with 5W30 WalMart oil.
    I appreciate your thoughts. DMHart

I have the barest of the bare bones.:D with a tonneau cover...and no I punch it to 70+ often. I even changed my coolant the other day and ran my engine at high throttle for a while while flushing.

If it is in the warranty, then yes. Check walmart for best prices and I plan to change mine at 7k and filter at 5k.

My boss just bought a V6 F150 2x4 that's rated 16/22. Granted it has more HP but MPG are pretty close.
