Consel vault, grillcraft grill w/ relocation of horns, debadged, backup lights, Best Top Super Topper.
I have a 3'' Old Man Emu lift with 885 coil overs with dakar leafs and shocks in the back and the U bolts mounting hardware. what im looking for is for anything else i should get or would need to do this lift.

I am looking for the best ride more for onroad but for offroad too, and the more stock ride with this lift. I dont have UCA's yet but do plan on getting some.

Do I need a Diff lowering kit? if so what is the advantage to doing this? Do I need any shims or spacers? I dont plan on putting a heavy duty bumper or winch on the front.

Open to any suggestions or comments or things that you would do or not do or any advice would be very helpful. Thank You

Also, to keep any kind of warrenty would you recommend having a shop do the lift or doing it yourself? To me it looks like an easy enough lift to just do it myself, but then again, I haven't done one personally, but will be working with a few other guys that have done lifts on their jeeps and such

Also, re-using the stock top hats wont give you problems, I reused mine that came from my OEM struts. Just in case you were wondering about that, because you didn't mention that.

I found that the extended lines weren't necessary unless you are getting into some pretty extreme flex , but they are a prudent call .

Get it all done at once :)

I'll be looking into getting new bushings from toyota just so that it will save somewhat time and hassel. Do I need shims or not, as of right now I do not have any, and what size should I get? Do I need to get spacers for the front? And is the diff drop needed as well?

    Bump, my question as well.

I have a 3" OME lift in the front, and currently nothing in the rear other than the TSB AAL from Toyota. Going to throw another leaf in the rear to bring it level, but I'm wondering if there's a diff drop needed for the 3" lift? Seems like "no", but I am getting some odd vibration between 55-65mph. It's very subtle, but certainly wasn't there pre-lift. Thanks guys, I want to keep ahead of any issues before they cause more problems...

From what ive heard Diff drops dont do anything for 2nd gens, I did hear it helped correct CV angles but im not sure of the proof. I say follow OZ-Ts advice and prepare yourself for any vibrations you might get post-lift.

Do the lift yourself, In my opinion doing the lift yourself will save you money in the long run, Especially if you end up having to correct vibrations. Knowing how everything works on your truck is a big plus when off roading. So grab a 12pack, a couple of your jeep buddies and have fun with it. I personally enjoy installing stuff on my truck :) its part of the hobby.

Yea, it's not a huge lift, only 3in... so I guess I don't need to do anything? I've heard some people say because the angles are different I'll need to change stuff up.

The lift is in... what do you mean by 'prepare yourself for any vibrations' - just, they're going to exist and there's nothing you can do about it...? I just don't want to do any long-term damage to the vehicle because I lifted it and I didn't change up some other stock piece that needs to be changed when you go bigger...

I also love installing stuff on my truck - especially when I take it to a buddy's house who knows a lot about these trucks :D.

Nah just be prepared for them, Know what components may be causing the vibration, Also install shims.

That's basically why I am posting here... what components may be causing the vibe

It doesn't seem like tires/wheels, but I'm by far from an "expert" on the subject.

Re - install shims - I shall read up on this, never heard of if before. Thanks!

Listen to this man, Ha I worded mine wrong sorry to throw you off OP.

You could expierence vibration from the driveshaft i know that, Im not 100% sure where else a 3" lift would stress enough to cause noise. Im sure a vet on here can give you a ton more detail on the vibrations.

No spacers. If you mean on top of the coilovers.
No diff drop. chris4x4 and others say it dosen't help 2nd gen and can even hurt.
I have 885s and Dakars and got full 3" lift front and rear.

    Cool, thanks guys!

Seems to be some great info for the rear suspension - which we're going to be doing this weekend.

Anything else I need to know about doing the front? That's all I've done thus far (other than the AAL TSB from Toyota). So the rear is sitting a little low compared to the front...

Just saw this post, sounds great. This is almost the same setup - I have 886's, and I'm honestly not sure what the rear is going to end up being... I shall find out Sunday.

The vibe isn't bad, and maybe it's because the rear is so much lower. The plan is upgraded (heavy!) bumper + winch, hence the 886's.

Already got mah wheel well fillers, now I need some damn spacers! Too much fun :D.

get the 1inch diff drop it will help your cv angles. don't need shims for the rear. Just swap the shocks out, and reassemble the struts together and install. New Stainless steel lines help with the soft brake pedal. I say get the extended brake lines.

How can you assume you won't need axle shims before you do the install ?
