Somebody hit and run my babytruck. And I know who did it.

I was leaving work and went to the employee parking lot where there were about 6 cars left. As I was walking closer, I thought that that my truck...well, really didn't look normal... As I came closer I saw that the rear passenger side of the bed had been pushed in, the black fender separated from the body, the bumper pushed and bent toward the drivers side and the tail light broken.

Parked perpendicular to mine was a co worker's Jeep Cherokee. When I drove into the parking lot earlier I had noticed that she was parked weird so I purposely left mine three spaces further back so she would have room to maneuver out. By the looks of the damage it appears that the person backed into my side.

Her Jeep was gone. She was no where to be found.

I was alone in the parking lot crouching there by the damage - confused, shocked, upset and crying while trying to rub out the marks on the paint as well as push the bumper back. I felt almost desperate, like somehow, just maybe, and by some miracle and my persistent pushing - that I'd close my eyes and upon opening them, it would be all better and fixed. But that was just a moment's fleeting thought.

Then anger rushed over me and I dug out my cell phone to call her. To confront her in a distance-by-phone non confrontational way. To ask her, no....to TELL her...that she hit my truck. The phone rang and rang until the answering service picked up. I immediately called it again, thinking that maybe she will answer THIS time.

As the phone was pressed to my ear, I saw her Jeep come into the lot. Her window rolled down and while still approaching, she yelled out "Oh hey, I hit your truck but I didn't do anything to it. I knew that if you were calling me something must have happened. But I stopped and I didn't see anything so I left." When I asked her why she came back if she didn't think she damaged my car, she answered: "Because my lunch hour was over." I pointed to the damage and she said "Hey that wasn't there after I hit it."

Well, it wasn't there BEFORE you hit it. I was really trying to hold myself together here.

    ...

This person is my co worker (I thought she was a friend) who - while she was a situation where she had to have a very risky surgical procedure done - had made me promise not to have her revived should she die on the table. Made me promise to take in her dogs should she die. This is the same person who I took time off of work to take care of her for three weeks while she recovered.

She hit and run my truck. She said she didn't damage it. I feel so violated, so hurt, so angry and so...BETRAYED. My trust in her is gone.

I can't look at my truck. I'll start to cry again. I know it's "ONLY A TRUCK" but this truck is very special to me. Like yours are special to you. And I thought my friend was special. But I was wrong. Because when it comes down to it, it's apparent that it's every man for himself here.

Our friendship will never be the same. My truck will never be the same.

And putting up pics would only rub salt in the wound.

I'm not posting this to ask for sympathies. I just felt I needed to vent with 2nd gen people ...or even 1st gen people. Those who love their truck as much as I do. Those who would understand the hurt like I do.

I'm going to take a break from posting here for a few days. Because to sit here with you all and talk about trucks would only upset me. I'll have to figure out what to do here. Not only with my truck but with what I thought was a true friendship.

    :(

Yo that was deep, For real. It must be a jeep thing, Cause i dont want to understand! Call the police man, File a suit against her. Dont be sad, go through the process and make her rightfully pay for what she did. Sorry to hear about your truck man, But maybe its a blessing in disguise? New color? New off road rear bumper? Smile man, No matter what, Youve still got your truck.

I thought this was gonna end with "Iran over to the B**** and ripped her head off."

But in all seriousness, I know how you feel. I hope she pulls up her big girl pants and admits her fault and get your truck repaired.

I really like my truck, but I can get another one. Truly geniune friendships are what I believe to be hard to find.

If your assumptions are true, the loss of friendship is what I'm most sad to hear about. I'm sorry for the heartache and damage. I hope she comes clean.

Sorry to hear about the situation. Sadly though this is how you would find out how "true" a friend is. Had she been a good one she would have left a note, text, phone call, whatever, to describe the situation and own up to it. I understand how you feel about your truck as I feel the same about my own. But hey you have confirmation that she DID hit it, so that may or may not be worth something to either insurance company. Hopefully you'll be back on track with your truck.

us first genners love us just as much, if not more.

But what you need to do is file an incident/police report. take a pic of your/her damages. See if work as security cameras, etc etc. Cause honestly, f that shit, get your truck fixed, properly, at her expense. that aint right bro.

Keep it professional though, no need to tell the boss, unless the boss needs to know.

and if worse comes to worse. hit her back. HARD. admit you hit her, but dont achnoledge even hitting THAT side of her vehicle. IE tbone her passenger side, and claim you hit the driver side. :D this is of course assuming you have a good bumper, and we live in a fairy tale world :(

Step 1: Get an ARB bumper.
Step 2: "Accidentally" clip her Jeep while backing out and make sure to rip off her rear bumper.

or just check if there are cameras that watch the parking lot and ask to see the recording if possible?

    i would file a report.

Don't avoid the "friend" but act casual. You don't have to hang out with her. Just don't burn bridges. I have friends who do that and they are honestly always short of friends. I hope all gets resolved, you continue posting and loving your truck....Thats why we are all on this forum.

I thought may be the substance you scrubbed off your trucks paint could be matched to the bumper material of the suspect jeep ..

Sounds to me like YOU have been the good friend...
File a report, gather evidence, and keep your head. You don't need her.

Dont let her pull the 'friend' card on you. She hit your truck and didnt even have the respect to come get you... instead she shrugged it off and went to lunch. Then when she got back she admitted to hitting you but claimed all that damage wasnt her fault. What a bitch. Get her insurance info and get it repaired 100% at her expense. Sounds like you need to take this as a learning experience - you lost a friend but gained the valuable knowhow to avoid befriending disrespectful assholes like that in the future.

Babytruck - I know its hard but you have to take care of this strictly and swiftly, and deal with the ramifications of losing a friend afterward. Dont let those feelings make you swallow the pain you felt from being betrayed and getting what is rightfully yours - a non-damaged truck. You need to get that truck fixed up right or it will always hang over your head.

If your friend refuses to pay 100% of the repair costs, you should immediately (if you havent already) called the police to file a report of a hit-and-run. When you talk to the police officer tell him exactly what happened: what you did, what you said, what she said. It's even better if your friend is there too - if she admits fault in the accident that is as cut-and-dry as you can make a case like this. Then call her insurance and/or your own (sometimes its easier to let your insurance battle it out with the other company for you) and get it taken care of that way.

I'd hate for you to let your so-called 'friend' talk you out of getting your truck repaired for her own selfish reasons, then have you start to resent the truck because of it's sad-looking state, and leave the site. Get this taken care of properly - if you want better advice, talk to a lawyer, they can advise you on exact steps to take from where you're at right now (although at a cost... unless you know someone?)

Best of luck to ya Babytruck!

Ps. Indian Shifter: Shut the fuck up? She's obviously hurt by what happened. No need to start demanding anything from her.

 I'm mad for you and I realize that you are hurting but this girl is no "friend". A true friend would have owned up to the damage done and made things as right as they possibly could. Leaving you to find the damage and then pull up and act innocent is a slap in the face and a HUGE insult to your intelligence. Do the right thing and file a report, tell the police the whole story, let them check out her story (see if she lies to them), and get your truck fixed by the best body shop around. As for that friendship, it went terminally ill  in the collision and then died wholly after the lie. You are better off without someone like that around because if she will lie to your face then she has no conscience whatsoever and is capable of ANYTHING.
