Heh. This thread has derailed into a build.

    Anyhow... Slight question/problem.

Bought the amp wiring and such.

I have 4 Gauge going into the amps. The cable came with an inline 100 A Fuse. The fuse is not waterproof.

Im I right in thinking about changing this to an inline fuse that is waterproof? Or perhaps a circuit breaker for piece of mind?

Also, it came with a 100 Amp fuse. My 1000 W Amp has four 25 Amp fuses and my 300 W Amp has two 25 Amp fuses. Is the supplied 100 Amp fuse that came with the cable enough or too much? I'd like to put the exact fuse I need. I've searched, but have found no definitive answer. If any of you know, i'd be very thankful.

Not sure if I'm supposed to add all the 25 Amp fuses, which would mean a 150 Amp fuse, or to go with the gauge and stay with recommended 100 Amp fuse.

BTW, as for deadening, I decided to go with FatMat. Its really inexpensive, and this is a work truck, so I should not go overboard on it, since I will still have tools rattling and such.

    Update.

Nvm. Kept searching and saw in many places that in fact I needed to add the fuses in the amps and that would give me the fuse for battery. Seems I need a 150 Amp fuse.

Everything is now on the way.

Perhaps I am missed some other post on the subject, but are you running a single wire from battery to a distribution block, then splitting to the amps?

As a general rule fuses to protect the power wire from fire hazard should be placed within 18" of the battery, and a 4 AWG wire should carry a fuse no larger than 125 Amps. BCAE.com has garnered a lot of respect on car audio, and their page on fusing might help.

Thank you very much. That's the kind of page/info I was looking for. I just bought the 125 fuse. Thanks.

You should be fine. If you're pulling 125 amps you're killing your battery more than likely. That and you're listening waaaaay too loud.
