    3" toytec lift, 20" chrome wheels with 295/55 r20 nitto trail grapplers, leer 100xr cap w/ thule bars
    im about to order an aftermarket cd player, and i was wondering if the steering wheel controls would still work with it, or if i had to get an extra harness to wire that in.

    I'm in the middle of installing mine right now with my Kenwood BT901. Am I right in thinking I need to cut/splice wires on the steering wheel control harness from behind the dash? do I really need to cut factory wires to make this work?

    Installing your what? Metra or PAC? If it's the Metra, you won't need to do anything - it should just be plug-n-play. Pics?

    OK, so the wires that go to PIN 6,7 and 8. I'm still trying to find a concrete answer, where are pin 6,7 and 8, and do I need to cut anything to connect to them? "plug and play" sounds great, but it's the "plug" I'm lost on.

    Did you download the info sheet from Metra for the Tacoma?

    I'm also assuming you already have a copy of this?

    Yes I do, however I do not know what or where the 20 pin connector they show is, nor do I know how to connect the two wires to it, whether I need to cut/splice or if I can somehow terminate with a pin connector or what.

    Not for the ASWC if you buy the Metra wiring adapter for the Tacoma. Except for power and ground wire connection, it's plug and play.
