    Hey guys i have a few questions about getting into the Fire Department. I am curently a high school student and plan on going to Columbia College in Sonora to study fire science to get me into Cal-Fire. The college has a fire house on campus that students are allowed to work at during the summer. But my question is, is there anything I should be doing while in high school that will help me get into Cal-Fire sooner? Ive talked to a few people and they recomended to get my First Responder and CPR now so that I dont have to do it in college. Also, I am an Eagle Scout so that should help me out. And, what classes should I take to become at least a Firefigher 1? thanks in advance

    just like tryng to get into law enforcement, you must offer your department something more than just school and remember every other applicant is working against you, community service is great, CPR, ems, basically any certificate you can receive that's related to serving. o and be physically fit.

    I agree, If you can get any basic entry classes like CPR, First Responder, Haz Mat Awareness and if you are in a wildland fire area your S-130 & S-190 would be great. You can also go online to FEMA and start your NIMS CLASSES like I-100 all the way up to I-700.
