my truck is only a year old. Started noticing a clear film peeling and spots of it. Its slowly speading. I took it to toyota and they said warranty wont cover that. Im thinking it should be covered. Its a defect! Anyone has the same problem? Or is it just me? 2010 models?

Brah, just noticed my 2010 is doing the same thing. Is it our weather maybe? I tried putting wax on it, but isn't helping. Weird clear top coat peeling on passenger side.

Is it really a film or oxidation??? It could be from the salt water or maybe you do have a bad headlight on my 05 I did have oxidation on top of lens and it showed spots but not exactly peeling....It started after the 3rd or 4th year but not the first

Do you guys park your trucks out in the direct hot sun a lot? Or park it in the rain a lot? Mine is parked outside all day for 2 days during the week but is garaged during the rest, but no peeling on mine so far.

just because you have lowered your standards by owning a toyota that does not mean others need to do the same. i am sorry but all the threads on here with Tacoma problems get the same live with it or its not that bad response. my 2010 is rusting all around the windows (big problem imho) dealership says not there problem. my front diff went at 4000 kms and dealership and toyota did not want to fix it. it required a lawyer to get it fixed. i now have rear leafs that squeak so bad it sounds like a 1980 farm truck. i have the windshield buzz (noise like a grass reed) dealership has tried to fix it two times with no success. i have had the blower motor replaced 4 times and the last one seems to have fixed it. i am sorry to rant in this thread but i am sick of people on hear preaching toyota quality. everyone needs to stand up and sound off to toyota and explain we are not happy with the quality of the current product. that is all.

    obvious troll is obvious

    every brand has issues

you say rust around windows? and front diff went out? what caused the front diff to go?

you may have a few tiny things that annoy you but will not effect the way the vehicle performs. it will start every morning and not let you down.

if you want a refined vehicle, buy a BMW or Mercedes. If you want a truck thats reliable. live with squeaky springs (my 89 suburban farm truck squeaks but still works just fine)

    quality is relative

To me a reliable vehicle is all the quality i need. I had a silverado. no rust, no squeaks nicer interior but i went through wheel bearings, cvs, and ball joints all the time.

To the OP the headlights seem not that bad. i give it the 5' rule. if you cant see it from 5' dont sweat it

BS. Toyota did not design the truck to look right only from 5'. If you have a truck under warranty and the headlight starts to do that Toyota will replace them. That is obviously a defect and you just have to insist they replace them. Take it above the dealer's head. A minor problem eventually leads to a major problem. That is probably a protective coating to prevent premature uv fading. Do you have hid lights in there?

I am no troll. front diff went out because toyota put to small of a bearing in the drivers side and did not properly harden the shaft that is installed in it. every one of those bearing will eventually fail and it all depends on the hardness of the shaft to determine how long it will take. like i said i gathered all the research and got a lawyer and took it toyota canada and got it fixed. they did not want to fix it at first saying my billys set at 2.5 caused it. if the cv fins are not touching its well with in the design range of the diff.

please tell me how a truck (6 months at the time) 1 year now with 22 000 kms should or could have rust around all the windows? Should a 1 year old truck have the protective uv coating on the headlights be peeling? should the window seal of a truck that has been built for this many years not already be fixed? there was a tbs for this the first year the truck came out. this truck is the worst built/finished vehicle i have ever seen. i am just calling it like it is. mine is a 2010 and i bought it because the older gen 2's got such good reviews and feedback from the forums. i think there will be many more posts here regarding quality of these trucks once more unhappy people find there way here.
