K&N cold air intake in a 96 4 cyl

    HEllloo.

    Im new to this great site. I have a 96 4 cyl tacoma and I've been thinking of putting a K&N cold air intake in. Any input? Is it worth putting in a 4 cyl?
    Does it change the sound of the truck at all?

    Welcome to TW! Your much better off doing the Deck Plate mod. Search for it on the site, or Google, and it will tell you how to install. A 4" one works best.

    what is a deckplate? I searched it on google and found a write up on another site that I am not a member on and thought it looked like a toilet flange??

    You instal a 4" deck plate on the front of the airbox. This allows more airflow, and costs about 10 bucks.

    I have a K&N cold air intake on my 96 I4 it had it when i bought it two years ago, but i have larger tires (265s) and a 2 inch lift and I still get 18mpg's. Truck is still a little gutless but i think it helps.
