Baby Seats + Room

I am thinking about buying either a Tundra or Tacoma. We expecting twins soon and I am a little worried about fitting two car seats in the back of the Tacoma. We have a Cherokee for the primary baby transporter.

I don't really use a truck for a truck. I love the looks of them and would like to have one again. I like the Tacoma TRD four door with the hood scoop better than the Tundra.

Any advice would help!! Thanks in advance!

 

Car seats are no problem in the DoubleCab.

I have no problem getting two car seats into my 05 access cab, although they are forward facing since my kids are a little older. They are only in there a few times at it is pretty tight but I knew that when I bought it.

 

Really? I went with the double cab only for the reason that I did not think car seats would fit in the access cab. Of course I did not try it first. I would rather have had an access cab.

 

Yeah like I said it's tight but we have an Explorer for the daily kid hauling and only put them in there when we need to haul something as a family.

 

Going to second this.My son is now in a booster but with the seats in an average posistion (not both all the way back),I don't see any reason this wouldn't work.Actually,the benifit of having a truck is that moving the kids seats in and out is done at a perfect height.Reaching down into the back of our Civic was a backbreaker.

 

My 4 yr old fits fine in the back, I would think with 2 kids and their bags it may get a little tight. It would be fine as a secondary vehicle thought. I am thinking about christmas and birthdays having all that extra stuff would be tricky. Just my $.02

 

Yeah...Just fitted a baby car seat into the back of my access cab the other day. TOTALLY doable...Forward or backwards.

A DCab could totally work out...and if you like the looks better...Go for it!!

 

Exactly why I went with the DC. The salesman said they fit in the access cab...but I can't imagine it would be a pleasurable experience trying to load a screaming/kicking kid into an access cab.

 

I have a rear facing car seat in my 09 dbl cab. Plenty of room for it. My wife rides in the middle seat in the back to keep an eye on our child.

I'm going to have to disagree. Newborn seats, like I have, really only fit in the middle unless you're a munchkin yourself and have your seat all the way forward. My seat (drivers) is only a couple notches from all the way back so I'd have to move it up in order for the seat to fit properly. If that isn't a problem for you, OK, but for me it is.

congrats on the twins and enjoy not sleeping. welcome. the double cab is big enough for rear facing car seats. i dont have any pics but maybe someone here does. the tundra is just to big of a truck and you dont really need it for a truck, the tacoma is perfect. keep us posted on the truck and the twins.

Congrats on the twins and welcome to TW. My son is 19 months and forward facing behind the passenger seat. I have an 09 DC Taco, there is still enough room for the passenger up front but for me I find it a little tight. Rear facing seats require a little more room.
It is really easy to put him in andvout due to the full size door of the DC and the height of my Pre Runner.
We bought this primarily for my son and a truck second. We couldn't be happier.

Not sure if this is what your looking for..they fit better in the Mazda three, but we've made trips with 3 adults and two kids in car seats no problem..just has to be someone with a small ass in the back with the kids.
