good deal. we planted our first food plots this year. we set up several buddy stands and a few lock-ons......I'm condidering having both kids sit alone on opening day so we can cover 3 different spots. I think they may be ready.

Did you see Kait's deer? She thinks she's a seasoned hunter now that she has 2 under her belt. LOL! Seriously though, she really appreciates the harvest.

yep, seen the rules........and here is a :smack:for some of them.

Tomorrow is opening day of bow season here in Vermont. I'm hoping to break in my Tacoma with some fresh deer blood.

Well my father and I ended up seeing 20 deer yesterday. Most were on posted land. I did get a chance to put a stock on 4 rub heads but they didn't stick around after they crossed the road in front of us. I will be out next weekend and I going to try and get out out after work some. Good luck to all the other hunters too.

This year shot at 3 with the bow and recovered one. Its a doe. Going today hunting over this white oak thats dropping. Dont do any rattling it dont work that good down here as it does in the midwest. We do have monster bucks(talking like from 140 to 160 B&C) down here but they are smart and they all nocturnal. Its rare to catch one thats during the day.

I have been striking out also. Saw 2 does and a very small fawn on sat morning and was hoping they would be back in the same spot on sunday morning and no luck. I did see a nice otter but i left him alone. Maybe this weekend. Got 2 more weeks of bow season.

Haven't been able to actually hunt, but have done some scouting. There are some red oaks that have hit, but they're gone as soon as they hit the ground. Very few white oaks hit. It'll all be gone in the next couple weeks, by the time muzzleloader opens. Might be a tough season this year...

.......speaking of the oaks, the white oaks are sure dropping big time around here. The deer are on their feet middle of the day catching them as they fall.......

Would be nice, I know they will change their movements. So it will be a hit and miss. Will most likly hold out unless I see something nicer.
Odd thing, crows seem to be giving the deer away. Sat for a bunch of hours, as soon as the crows started up, minutes later I seen deer. Matter of fact was like that last year during fall turkey and deer season. Most cases I wish they would pass some place else with all the noise they make, now I am thinking it may be good to have them around. Plus it covers up all my mess ups.........:tumbleweed:

I hear you on that. Strange you mention, but the crows were noisy a few times during the youth hunt and deer showed up. I usually listen for the bluejays to make a racket and give away deer but the crows will have my ears from now on too.

Heading to the farm this weekend, check the blinds and pull some pictures. Not going to hunt, just check the woods out. Gonna pay some close attention the the big cedars, seem to be a hot spot for big horn rubbers.
Maybe a new one has moved into the area, doe count is really high this year.
