Mac fanboys,

Hey guys im looking for someone in the denver metro that i can drop my Macbook Pro 15" Laptop off to be completely disassembled and completely cleaned, I can see nastiness when my keyboard lights up and its honestly driving me CRAZY. Can anyone recommend a good computer shop? Maybe just a mac store? Will they see me coming and charge me ridiculously? Its not under warranty anymore.

 

Id have a apple store do it, my girlfriend had a shop do it for her mac and worked 90% the same, but something was off about it. that could be pricey going through the apple store. hopefully someone in your area chimes in

 

Yah i know it would probably be nice chunk of change, I just really want it cleaned, Ive had it for almost...3 years and i plan on keeping it another 3 so i want to make sure everything is clean, Inside and out. Gotta get around to installing Lion one of these days haha

 

is the dirt on top or below the keys? i know its trivial but take a magic eraser to the top, it took all the grease off my keys and made them look almost new again.

 

The dirt is under the keys, Like in the computer Its disgusting its really bothering me haha.

 

its not too hard to do yourself if you feel adventurous...

 

I dont have any of the correct torx or special screwdrivers, And i dont have a static bracelet either... Id hate to break my only laptop.

Touch the screw on a wall electrical socket first. That will ground you and discharge any residual static off you.

Torx screw drivers will cost you far less than taking it to apple fyi.

 

Or cost a lot more because he damaged it.

If you're not comfortable taking apart the rig, don't do it. I would offer, but I've only taken apart laptops. Never a Mac... Usually they don't like coming apart. Took apart a iMac thingy at work, gawd that was a nightmare. I don't even want to think about taking apart a MacBook.

Denver Mac Repair is awesome. I have had them fix my iPhone and they were very reasonable and knowledgeable. I think they charge about $60/hour for most services and I doubt it would take more than an hour or so.

 

my roomate spilled an entire coke on the keyboard of his macbook last year. He had to completely take it apart and clean/dry it. It still works fine to this day and really was not that hard to take apart.
